Horror Quote Of The Moment

Welcome to Under The Morgue.

We have sections for each decade of film, from the 1910s onward, as well as sections for 10+ major franchises, close to 50 'smaller' franchises (containing five entries or less), creative writing, independent filmmaking, photography, music, Non-Horror films and TV shows, forum games, and boredom busters, and to top it all off there's an IM shoutbox at the bottom of the page for random chat. From the tame and 'kid sister friendly' to the psychological and mindbending to cheesy splatter flicks to hardcore torture-oriented horror, there's something here for everyone, so why not dive in?

I still stand by my answer of Scream being the best film, but I am actually starting to like watching Scream 2 more... Not going to lie. I love the way the main survivors from the first one developed in this one. Dewey in particular is fucking adorable.

The first for me, which I'll defend to my dying breath as one of the all-time great teen-horror flicks, as well as one of the best horror films in general in the last twenty years. I also enjoyed part 2 and felt it successfully managed to recapture a lot of what made the original work, while also expanding upon the mythology. But I couldn't stand part 3; it felt desperate, like it was grasping at straws, and the instant Jay and Silent Bob appear on screen it takes you right out of the movie, because it's no longer about the filmmakers trying to make an effective scary movie, and more about trying to be hip and cool. I mean I'm actually a huge Kevin Smith fan, but c'mon...

Part 4 I was completely unable to get into. They proved with part 3 that when it came right down to it, they would never kill off Sidney, Gale or Dewey, so I never once feared for any of them, and a horror film without fear or suspense is a waste of time. I did think the double reversal in the opening was clever, but the rest of the movie just felt empty to me.

I think Scream would make a fantastic solo film, but Scream 2 also makes a fantastic sequel. Scream 1 and 2 would've made a fabulous series without 3 and 4, which were SO inferior.
