Horror Quote Of The Moment

Welcome to Under The Morgue.

We have sections for each decade of film, from the 1910s onward, as well as sections for 10+ major franchises, close to 50 'smaller' franchises (containing five entries or less), creative writing, independent filmmaking, photography, music, Non-Horror films and TV shows, forum games, and boredom busters, and to top it all off there's an IM shoutbox at the bottom of the page for random chat. From the tame and 'kid sister friendly' to the psychological and mindbending to cheesy splatter flicks to hardcore torture-oriented horror, there's something here for everyone, so why not dive in?

A former summer camp caretaker, horribly burned from a prank gone wrong, lurks around an upstate New York summer camp bent on killing the teenagers responsible for his disfigurement.

The raft scene, the scenery, the nudity, and the killer are the only things I like about this movie. I used to bow down to it but I'm not a huge fan of it. I think it's pretty overrated.

One of my favorite standalone 80's slashers, I also can't wait for the blu-ray.

Love that cover. Honestly though, besides a couple deaths, I didn't really care for this.

So I'll start off with the bad. Half of the victims die in one scene and way too many people survived. There was also a 36 minute gap between two of the deaths. No bueno. Now that that's out of the way (yes those are my only complaints), let's move onto the good. Well for one thing the deaths are AMAZING and a couple of them came out of nowhere. The camp setting felt even more realistic here than in most of the Friday The 13th films which was nice. Not everyone looks glamorous in the wilderness and trust me, almost everyone in this film was far from it. I appreciated that. The killer himself is grotesque and viscious. And he looooves his gardening sheers, and I looooove him for that. The story is simple: A group of campers play a prank on a caretaker that causes him to be burned over most of his body. Oops. Years later he returns to that same campground seeking revenge by slicing and dicing anyone he comes across. Overall I'd give this film somewhere in the neighborhood of an 8/10, mostly because the pacing felt slightly 'off' at times.

Agreed. It should have had atleast 3 or 3 more deaths.

I love that poster. I just watched this again the other day and I didn't realize how many people lived. The killer didn't even kill half the people did he? I always remember more kids being on the raft then that I for sure thought Jason Alexander got killed on the raft. But still this is a good 80s slasher.

No, it was probably something else. This is considered a slasher classic by a lot of horror fans. I agree that it IS, I just don't consider it a favorite of mine.

Best poster I think I have ever seen for a horror.

I love this film, and It was allegedly written before Friday The 13th (1980)

It was one of the first slashers I saw on 'Pirate video' my uncle used to own a video shop I remember he brought boxes of VHS's around, this along with Poltergeist, ANOES2, Rabid, The Fly suppose it just reminds me of my youth and watching films like this of which back then I had never seen before.

again for me only drawback is a lot of daylight.

it used to be great, its what basically really got me into horror films.

Plus with them being VHS's from a shop used to love the amount of trailers on each film.

No doubt this is for me is one of the best posters ever for a horror film.

That poster should have been used for a DVD release imo. It's even better than the already pretty good ones that we got.
