Stranded on a lonely road, a schoolbus full of high school basketball players, their coaches, and cheerleaders must defend themselves from the Creeper - a flesh-eating ancient beast that resurfaces on the earth every 23 years to feed. Meanwhile, a farmer and his son set out on a personal mission to hunt the Creeper down.

Best Buy has the Bluray for $20 which is a few bucks cheaper than it is on Amazon and EBay (and probably the Scream Factory site as well). I bought it. :)

I saw the first film on VHS when I was 9, and I got a chance to see the sequel in cinemas the next year at age 10 (yeah, seriously, my local theater allowed that). I actually do like the idea of the school bus setting, but of course it does lead to questions like "Why don't they just drive it with the flat?". But who cares? This movie is intended to show its main characters on the bus terrified of what they end up facing, it proves they're not always badasses, them being scared makes them feel at least a bit relatable. I also liked Ray Wise (you'll remember him in RoboCop as one of Clarence's henchmen Leon) in this film as Jack Taggart, I actually found him to be the most strong point of the film, I would've liked to had seen more of him in the film.

Growing up I used to prefer this film over the first film. But now looking back on the film, I'm starting to notice the cracks in it, and now I go more for the first film for its slow-burning pacing and suspense and atmosphere. Some times you don't even need to watch the sequel, you can just watch the first film as a one-off, as director Victor Salva had initially intended.

And speaking of which, Fun Fact: Victor Salva originally came up with the Creeper's 23-day/23-year rule as his clever way of averting a possible sequel. He knew that if the film was a success, the studio MGM would immediately want a sequel, thus the 23 rule. However, executive producer Francis Ford Coppola had found a loophole in the rule: Why not set it in the same 23 days as in the first film? And thus Jeepers Creepers 2 was born. I heard this sequel was originally supposed to have Trish and Giselle returning to hunt down the Creeper, and the school bus plot was initially a minor subplot, but things got changed around resulting in what we've not got here.

Since Repo just mentioned it in a PM, is anyone else having issues with this thread triggering antivirus software? (shock)
This is my first time checking out this thread, and yes, it just triggered my Avast anti-virus. Specifically, it was the hot-linked poster image URL that triggered it.

Good to know. And that's so weird that this is pretty much the only thread I've REALLY had that issue with more than once. I'll take down the poster and replace it. Thanks for confirming that.

I've experienced it with a couple other threads as well, and in both instances it was the hotlinked poster URL that tripped it. I forget which threads they were but if I come across them again (or any others) I'll be sure to let you know. :)

I had a double feature of these earlier and, surprisingly, I loved the second one almost as much as the first.

I hate that I can't post on Facebook that I watched them because I would immediately have several dozen random horror fans swoop down and say that I'm lining the pockets of a rapist/sympathizing with a rapist/degrading victims of rape...just by watching a 16 year old horror film, lol.

Yeah. Facebook sucks.

I don't think I'll ever watch this one again, but I wouldn't mind rewatching the first one.

The only thing I remember liking about this one is Ray Wise.

Personally, I found the Scott character detestable with his blatant racism not only before the Creeper attacks but when everybody's scared out of their wits. I loved it when Double D shoved him to the front of the bus and said that he hopes the creature kills him. And I still don't think Scotty apologizing at the last second to him when the Creeper is about to swoop in for the kill makes up for his attitude carried on the whole film.

Yeah, it's been so long that I don't remember that character. I just remember Ray Wise and how he's always an interesting actor to watch.

ED. NOTE - After looking up the characters of that movie, I realize now Wise didn't play Scotty. I was assuming he did because of your post, Cosmic.
