Two young couples on a double date go to a mysterious carnival. As a prank they decide to spend the night in the funhouse. When they witness a brutal murder, they suddenly find themselves in horrific danger.

I'll give it points for a final girl with a nude scene. And I guess the atmosphere is okay (but waaaaay disappointing and so much more should've been done with that setting its not even funny). Otherwise this blew. Definitely boring. I don't mind a slow start to build characters... But they should at least be interesting characters. These people were as underdeveloped as the TCM ones
(and this IS a slasher but.. Whatever)

Puppy, just because there's no evidence she killed her aunt doesn't make her dating material.

Rather tepid, this one. Great setting and the two-faced freak monster was kind of interesting, but Hooper did absolutely nothing with either. Interestingly -- and a bit head-scratchingly -- this is one of the rare slasher flicks the late and noted slasher-hater Gene Siskel actually enjoyed and rated favorably. Go figure.

Like I've said, this REALLY needs a remake (sure, we got Dark Ride that is sort of a big fat homage but...). Add one or two more secondary villains, give the 'monster' man more to do, give us six or seven teenagers instead of just four. Add another big chase or two. Keep the atmosphere (I agree with Repo that the look, feel, and tone of this is good enough). Voila. Better film.

According to IMDb, Steven Spielberg offered Tobe Hooper the chance to direct E.T., but Hooper was too busy making this film at the time. There's a reason for everything, I guess; 'cause I certainly don't want to see a Tobe Hooper version of E.T. (poke)

Their work on Poltergeist together wasn't bad though, considering the rumors of who actually filmed it. Either way, great family friendly horror film. This one, on the other hand, not as family friendly, but it might as well have been with how dull it is and how few gruesome kills there are. Such a waste of a great setting and the few creepy characters they had. My favorite being the fortune teller.

Maybe us horror fans will eventually get The Funhouse remake we deserve. There's still time. As they say, it ain't over till the fat lady sings.

I chose this as the movie I'd willingly fall asleep to during the horror marathon I attended, but I didn't really sleep that long to it. Just the beginning and bits and pieces in the middle.

I liked the deaths better this time around. Helps to see it on the big screen too, I suppose.

I love the villians in this better too this time around.

All in all, not a bad picture.
