A woman is kidnapped by a stranger on a routine flight. Threatened by the potential murder of her father, she is pulled into a plot to assist her captor in offing a politician.

Another Craven film that most people past judgement on. This was a terrific thriller. I enjoyed it very much.

This movie was very well done. The two leads were fantastic and it really does a good job of keeping you invested the whole movie. A lot of great thrills and tension.

I thought it was great...until the last 20 minutes or so. The stuff on the plane was well handled, suspenseful and tense. Unfortunately, almost every character in the film ended up disappearing without serving too much of a purpose and it became a big action thing. The ending wasn't TERRIBLE though but for some reason it disappointed me for the most part.

I remember seeing trailers of it when it was coming out. I thought it was just okay. It didn't interest me much. I might see it online one day though.

I thought Cillian Murphy and Rachel McAdams had amazing chemistry in this film, and that really pulled the plot along for me. The stuff on the plane was handled really well, and then--Jon, I agree with you--the last bit seemed to kind of unravel from the suspense on the plane. Like, "what do we do once they're off the plane? Okay, then what? And then, that? Okay, yeah that'll work..."

I really enjoyed this. It had good performances and I remember it scaring me the first time I saw it. Decent thriller.

Give it a watch, you might like it more than most people do.

I could watch Cillian count pennies and still be entertained. That might be because of the massive crush I've had on him for like ten years now but oh well.

I SO love that scene where the plane has landed and Rachel McAdams is telling her story about the scar to Cillian and all the while, she's getting ready to shove that pen deep into his throat. That's the moment when SUPER RACHEL took over and dominated all over Mr. I'm So On Top of Everything Assassin!

I think Red Eye is an amazingly fun movie. It didn't break any boundaries, and it certainly won't gain classic or even cult classic status, but it's a LOT of fun. Rachel and Cillian have great chemistry throughout, and even though a lot of people took issue with this, I liked how short the movie was. The movie moved SO quick, and there was never, ever a dull moment. If I ever want pure entertainment, I'll dig out my DVD and pop it in for a bit.

I don't know what it is, but I LOVE most horror or thriller films that take place on planes. They're always a lot of fun.

A-.

Me and my Pops saw this in theaters when I was 12, and I actually really enjoyed it. The premise - an everywoman being pulled into an assassination plot during an airplane flight - feels very Hitchcockian in nature, and Craven's direction also gives it a claustrophobic feel to it.

The two leads, Rachel McAdams and Cillian Murphy, are both brilliant in this, they play off each other perfectly well as two complete strangers whose lives become intertwined during a red-eye flight by a stroke of fate that has them involved in a plot to assassinate a prominent political figure in Homeland Security. By the time of the climax, McAdams takes over the film and charges in as the heroine she is.

Much like many other of Craven's other films, the film's slow-building leads to a snowball effect in the climax, going for an intense chase and cat-&-mouse climax. Gotta admit, the scene where the DHS Deputy Secretary and his family avoid a Javelin missile fired at their apartment room, was pretty good, probably the closest we'll ever get to seeing Craven direct an action scene involving an explosion.
