Welcome to Under The Morgue.

We have sections for each decade of film, from the 1910s onward, as well as sections for 10+ major franchises, close to 50 'smaller' franchises (containing five entries or less), creative writing, independent filmmaking, photography, music, Non-Horror films and TV shows, forum games, and boredom busters, and to top it all off there's an IM shoutbox at the bottom of the page for random chat. From the tame and 'kid sister friendly' to the psychological and mindbending to cheesy splatter flicks to hardcore torture-oriented horror, there's something here for everyone, so why not dive in?

Anything that doesn't fit into the other Cube threads we have so far goes here.

Are Hypercube and Zero canon as far as the first is concerned or does it try to continue the story al a Sleepaway Camp 2 and 3?

They don't really connect to the original film all that much. Tbh, I'm glad they don't. The original really does work better as a standalone. The sequel and prequel were very...out there and had some flat out stupid moments but were still entertaining. I still really want a GOOD remake of the first though.

Cube is one of my babies. I'm a BIG science-fiction nerd (more than horror I must admit, but I do enjoy horror more than I used to since Jonny's been hanging out with me), so the knowledge aspect/numbers, etc., really EXCITES me (mischievous grin). (Yes, math and science turns me on...).
Cube 1>2, and I haven't seen "0", yet, but hopefully I can watch it with Jonny soon.
I heard that there was a Cube roleplay going on, either here or DTD (not sure), and I would have loved to join if I had more time on my hands, but I'm getting off topic.
I loved the character development and the atmosphere of the first cube. Didn't care too much for the second one...IDK, seemed kinda cheesy to me and seemed like they could have done a lot more with it. Kept expecting more I guess...
If I was stuck in a cube, it'd be like heaven...if I could keep respawning or something (plus an e-cig) (needs a video game)
Battle Royale+Cube would be a cool concept for a roleplay where each room has a different weapon, and the good weapons, you have to beat traps for... That'd be nice.
(As you can tell I'm a bit ADD tonight)
uuuuuuuhhhhh....yeah. that's about it. Oh yeah, and I'd love to see this series really get the attention it deserves instead of a small little cult following.

I totally agree about the cult following thing. I know quite a few people who love the trilogy (mainly just the original) but it's still not the 'big deal' that it deserves to be. I want a fourth film (or even a remake) SO fucking badly it's not even funny.
A Battle Royale/Cube combo film/script would be AWESOME and it's funny that you mentioned that since the remake script I'm in the process of writing (a fanremake of the original Cube) deals with the things you mentioned and reeeally goes in depth with the whole 'pitting people against eachother to escape' aspect that hasn't really been explored in the films (weapons included, of course!).

Just warning you now baby, Cube Zero is the WORST of the trilogy (at least to me) but has some decent enough traps and IS worth seeing once. But only once.

If I ever see Hypercube and Zero on Netflix or Demand, I'm seeing it immediately. Or even the first. I think I saw it three times in a week, I'm that in love with it.

I loved the first one. Second one was terrible - felt like it was just jammed together in someone's basement in europe. Third one was fun.

I have all three on DVD. :P Do NOT expect the 2nd and 3rd to come anywhere close to the original, AJ.

Even though Cube 2: Hypercube is meant to be a sequel, it isn't really, as obviously none of the other characters appear in it, nor are they mentioned. And Cube Zero is pretty much an event that takes place before Cube.

Not in my case they weren't, but I obviously can't speak for anyone else. :)

I like to think of Cube as a standalone film as the original creators intended, with the other two as spin-offs that don't really connect to the first (aside from one scene in Zero).

I'm not. I'd LOVE if they gave us another shrouded-in-mystery sort of film like the first. Just up the character-count (10-12 characters instead of 6 or 7) bump up the runtime by a few more minutes and make the traps a bit more insane and vicious, but still believable. Pretty much, I'd like a remake of the first but with an entirely new group of characters so its not just a stale retread.

I don't trust anyone doing a sequel/prequel/remake at this point. Chances are the CGI will be over-the-top and just ruin it. That, and since the mystery is somewhat explained (if you see H/Z as canon) a sequel is pretty much pointless.
