1. Do you prefer slashers or zombies?
There are good and bad entries in both categories, but I think I watch more slasher movies even though I love a good zombie movie. Still, I'm going to say slashers, because I can forgive a bad slasher movie more than I can a bad zombie movie.

2. Craven or Carpenter?
Carpenter

3. Who is your favorite final girl?
Nancy Thompson (A Nightmare on Elm Street & A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors)

4. Do politics and horror mix?
If done correctly, yes. Most versions and similar types of films to Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

5. Favorite Full Moon movie?
The one that jumps out at me is Castle Freak

6. Is gore necessary for a good Horror Film?
Not particularly

7. What is your favorite of Romero's Dead films?
Night of the Living Dead

8. Are there any trends in horror you don' t like?
American remakes of foreign films and, for a lack of a better term, Torture Porn.

9. Zombies: fast or slow?
Slow. They're reanimated corpses.

10. If you could meet any horror director, who would it be?
John Carpenter. Or maybe Sam Raimi.

11. Favorite film in the Alien Quadrilogy?
Alien

12. Who is your favorite Dracula?
Even though Sir Christopher Lee just passed, I have to go with Bela Lugosi. Max Schreck is good too as the unofficial Dracula, but Dracula is supposed to seduce you not just scare you off. Gary Oldman did a hell of job as well.

13. Creepiest scene in any horror movie?
The crucifixion scene in The Exorcist or even that spider-walk.

14. What is your favorite horror movie remake?
John Carpenter's The Thing

15. What Horror Film would you like to SEE remade?
Terror Train

16. Favorite Horror Film you think no one else has ever seen.
Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things

17. Favorite Scream Queen of all time (sorry, only one!)
Sigourney Weaver

18. What scared you most as a child that SHOULD be a horror movie?
I've always hated windows at nighttime. Cover them up with curtains or blinds or something. Don't let people see into your homes at night. It's creepy. So, something involving that perhaps. Like a Bed and Breakfast gone wrong. I don't know.

19. What scene in a horror movie makes you a little queasy?
Spoiler: click to toggle

20. Favorite Friday the 13th movie?
Friday the 13th VI: Jason Lives

21. Favorite horror parody/satire?
As much as I cherish Young Frankenstein, I'm always in the mood to watch The Cabin in the Woods.

22. Jason or Freddy?
Freddy

23. What is your favorite Troma film?
I need to watch more Troma films. That's for sure. I like Mother's Day quite a bit though. I would love to remake Class of Nuke 'Em High.

24. Do you have a horror movie you only remember a scene or image from, but don't remember the title of? If so, what is it?
A 1950s, 1960s foreign film set in Japan. I remember liking it a lot, but for the life of me I can't remember the name of the film. It doesn't help that I confuse it with one of the entries in Kwaidan.

25. Favorite Made-for-TV horror movie?
Stephen King's It

26. How long should a horror movie last?
Roughly 90, 100 minutes

27. Do you like comedy in your horror movies?
Sure. If it's appropriate. I hate movies that take themselves too seriously though. No pretentiousness in my horror, please.

28. Do you mind having CG effects in horror movies?
Yeah, most of the time, but I don't mind a combination of CGI and practical effects, as long as the CGI is kept to a minimum.

29. What is your favorite "Universal Monster" movie?
Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein

30. Scariest cinematic memory from your childhood?
Freddy Krueger has always given me nightmares, but I don't think I ever saw any of the early films in a theater. Cinematic-wise then . . . Jurassic Park. At least that's what my grandfather tells me.

31. Argento or Fulci?
Argento

32. Favorite Texas Chainsaw movie?
The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, but Leatherface: Texas Chainsaw Massacre III is a close second. I have to see the unrated version.

33. Shockumentaries/Mondo movies: Yay or nay?
Both yay and nay

34. What was your favorite horror movie of the last year?
The Babadook

35. Do you mind shot-on-video/digital horror movies?
I prefer film, but if the story's there and the directing's good count me in.

36. What is your favorite foreign horror movie-producing country?
Japan

37. David Hedison or Jeff Goldblum as The Fly?
Jeff Goldblum. Never saw the original.

38. Is nudity necessary for a good horror movie?
Nah. I don't think so. Unless of course you set your movie at a bar called the Titty Twister.

39. Which remake would you rather suffer through: The Fog, Prom Night, or Shutter?
Prom Night

40. What is you favorite holiday-based horror movie?
Halloween (1978)

41. What is your favorite horror movie of all time?
John Carpenter's The Thing

Killer's Therapist
[ * * * * * ]
1. Zombies.

2. If I have to choose, Carpenter but there's much better out there.

3. Ginny from Friday Part 2 or Trish from Friday Part 4, they're both head-and-shoulders above the rest.

4. I don't believe in politics, any mention of it is an automatic red flag and flaw against the film.

5. Forcing myself not to go for any of their killer doll films, maybe Head of the Family or Hideous, although since they did distribute it but didn't produce it I'll say The Dead Hate the Living.

6. It adds a great deal of tension for the killer (look what he/it's capable of doing, what happens when he/it gets their hands on the leads?) but it's certainly not a deal-breaker. Promising it and not delivering is another story entirely.

7. Dawn of the Dead.

8. Torture films, or at the very least PG-13 rating in general.

9. Slow. It is biologically impossible to be fast as a zombie.

10. Alive: Guillermo del Toro. All-time: Lucio Fulci.

11. Aliens.

12. Sir Christopher Lee (RIP (cry) )

13. The possessed singing songs to torment Ash in The Evil Dead.

14. Tough to be John Carpenter's The Thing, but I do find that The Hills Have Eyes, One Missed Call and Friday the 13th all had moments that made them better than the original.

15. I've long-rallied behind an updated version of Rawhead Rex.

16. Colmillos, el hombre-lobo.

17. I don't really follow this all that well, maybe Tiffany Shepis as there's a lot of movies I like with her in it. Coincidence or not I'm not sure.

18. I've never dangled my arms or legs over the foot of the bed while I'm sleeping as I always felt something was underneath the bed ready to get me and drag me under it because that was how it was going to get me. To this day I still don't sleep like that.

19. Vomiting for real (I can handle it if they keep something in their mouth and then 'spit' it out as if they did vomit for me, but the real thing is a little different).

20. Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (though if we're talking the entire franchise Jason X but you made it out like it's only the Paramount versions so that's my choice)

21. Broken Lizard's Club Dread.

22. Jason.

23. Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead as it's the only one I've actually seen from them.

24. No, I remember everything I've seen.

25. Dinoshark, the Sharknado films and the Mega Shark series I all utterly love and enjoy.

26. 90-100 minutes. Too much beyond that and it starts to drag simply to fill time.

27. Depends. If the subject matter is still taken seriously yet is punctuated with jokes or slapstick, then it can be hilarious. If nobody makes it out like the threat is serious and throw off one-liners about the situation, then I don't really care for it.

28. I've gotten used to seeing them but I still mark it down as a flaw in the movie and oftentimes find it the only real problem with the film anyway.

29. Since we're not going on franchise, Frankenstein.

30. I never watched horror as a child. I came to it as a teen.

31. Fulci.

32. Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2.

33. Never seen one, so no comment.

34. As it's going to be 2014 for the time I take this, As Above, So Below.

35. Not entirely sure what this means. Isn't everything done in that matter?

36. Italy is so far ahead of the pack it's my favorite country of all time anyway.

37. Jeff Goldblum.

38. I don't mind it nor need it but I certainly welcome it and have never found it a problem against a film.

39. Prom Night was the only one amongst those that actually sucked. The Fog was actually really good, as long as you go for the unrated version I thought.

40. Silent Night, Deadly Night but there's a lot of holes missing in my collection about that sub-genre.

41. Zombi 2.
Do illiterate people get the full effect of alphabet soup?

Some people are like slinkies: not good for anything, but you can't help but laugh when one falls down the stairs.

1. Do you prefer slashers or zombies? Zombies, but I dig both.

2. Craven or Carpenter? Carpenter. But Craven's great, too (RIP)

3. Who is your favorite final girl? The one against whom every final girl is compared: Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode in Halloween.

4. Do politics and horror mix? Sure. The best horror movies, to me, are the ones which are allegorical. You can allegorize anything, including politics. In fact, Land of the Dead immediately comes to mind, and its smear against Bush's cash-and-carry, fuck the middle class regime. But then most of Romero's flicks are political allegories.

5. Favorite Full Moon movie? Castle Freak. But I have a lot of love for the original Puppet Master, as well.

6. Is gore necessary for a good Horror Film? No. Suspense, an interesting story, relatable characters and some sense of style are necessary for a good horror film. Gore is more like icing on a cake. It makes a good horror movie better (when done judicously) but on its own, it's just empty calories.

7. What is your favorite of Romero's Dead films? Dawn of the Dead. But I love all of 'em, except Diary and Survival.

8. Are there any trends in horror you don' t like? Torture porn. Remakes. Ryan Murphy-style horror cinema/television for the attention span deprived.

9. Zombies: fast or slow? Slow. It's enough to ask us to believe a dead person can come back to life, but to ask us to believe they can run fast with rotting muscles, no circulation system or working lungs to provide the required blood and oxygen that enable one to run in the first place? That's asking too much.

10. If you could meet any horror director, who would it be? Carpenter, Romero, Argento. I'd be tickled pink to meet either.

11. Favorite film in the Alien Quadrilogy? The original, of course.

12. Who is your favorite Dracula? Dracula: Lugosi. Vampire in general: Martin, from the same-titled Romero film. IF he's even a vampire at all...

13. Creepiest scene in any horror movie? How about the tastiest bite of food I've ever had? Or the best orgasm I've ever had? I could list thousands.

14. What is your favorite horror movie remake? Carpenter's The Thing, though if you want to argue semantics it's technically not a remake.

15. What Horror Film would you like to SEE remade? None. I'd rather Hollywood put their money toward a new horror film than try and redo one that's already been made, especially considering that the vast majority of remakes suck sour frog dick.

16. Favorite Horror Film you think no one else has ever seen. Blood and Donuts (1995)

17. Favorite Scream Queen of all time (sorry, only one!) Jamie Lee

18. What scared you most as a child that SHOULD be a horror movie? Mom's abusive then-boyfriend

19. What scene in a horror movie makes you a little queasy? I have a pretty strong stomach but the scene in Gates of Hell when the chick pukes up her guts made me gag a little the first time I watched it. Same for the puke drinking scene in Bad Taste, and the ear-in-the-custard bit from Dead Alive.

20. Favorite Friday the 13th movie? Part 4 - The Final Chapter

21. Favorite horror parody/satire? Scream

22. Jason or Freddy? Jason. Freddy was great in the first three Elm Street flicks, then he became a joke.

23. What is your favorite Troma film? The Toxic Avenger. But I also really enjoy Toxic Avenger 4, Tromeo & Juliet and Class of Nuke 'Em High

24. Do you have a horror movie you only remember a scene or image from, but don't remember the title of? If so, what is it? Not a movie, but from an episde of The Night Gallery I saw back in the late '70s as a kid. All I remember is a person -- don't recall if it was a man or a woman -- sitting before a vanity or desk. They were about to turn toward a mirror -- as I recall, supposedly something horrible had happened to their face -- but I looked away before it showed their reflection. I was too scared to watch. I've brought that up to several people over the years and none have been able to tell me which episode it was.

25. Favorite Made-for-TV horror movie? Duel (1971) Gargoyles (1972) is a close second.

26. How long should a horror movie last? Doesn't matter, as long as it maintains your interest.

27. Do you like comedy in your horror movies? Depends on the movie, and if it's warranted.

28. Do you mind having CG effects in horror movies? Only when it's used to do something that could have been more effectively done with practical FX. For instance, I hate CG blood splatter. Use a squib, you lazy fucks.

29. What is your favorite "Universal Monster" movie? I can never decide. Usually I say Frankenstein but depending on the moment I could just as easily go with Creature From the Black Lagoon or The Invisible Man.

30. Scariest cinematic memory from your childhood? The TV spot for the flick Magic (1978) gave me nightmares for a while. But the scariest for me was watching Halloween on its broadcast TV premiere in '81. I was at a friend's house watching it with him and his parents. Terrified me. But the worst thing was having to walk home after. Ten o'clock at night, several blocks back to home. Every shadow, every rustling leave was The Shape coming to get me. To this day, the most afraid I've ever been in my life. And I've been in combat LOL

31. Argento or Fulci? I dig Fulci (some of his stuff) but I LOVE Argento (most of his stuff).

32. Favorite Texas Chainsaw movie? The first, though the second is a lot of fun.

33. Shockumentaries/Mondo movies: Yay or nay? I've seen my share; there was a period of a year or so where I felt I absolutely HAD to watch stuff like Faces of Death and Inhumanities and Africa Addio, but then I'd just finished a tour in combat and had seen and experienced some pretty harrowing stuff, so watching these things was my (perhaps ill-advised) way of working out some stuff. Today, I'm completely indifferent about them. It doesn't bother me that they exist, but on the same token, just because they do doesn't mean you have to watch them. Though I would question the motivations of those who seek them out because they actually enjoy them and experience some level of enjoyment from them.

34. What was your favorite horror movie of the last year? The Babadook

35. Do you mind shot-on-video/digital horror movies? Not at all, in fact I have a soft spot for them.

36. What is your favorite foreign horror movie-producing country? Italy. Where would the genre be without spaghetti horror?

37. David Hedison or Jeff Goldblum as The Fly? Goldblum. Much more layered and interesting a performance. Like, by miles.

38. Is nudity necessary for a good horror movie? Of course not. In fact too many times unnecessary nudity has cheapened an otherwise good movie. There has to be a reason for it; it has to be that the only way the scene or sequence would possibly work was if nudity was involved. But with the exception of porn, when has that ever been the case?

39. Which remake would you rather suffer through: The Fog, Prom Night, or Shutter? I've already suffered through all of them. I have no plans to do so again.

40. What is you favorite holiday-based horror movie? Halloween, of course!

41. What is your favorite horror movie of all time? Dawn of the Dead, with Halloween being a threateningly close second.

Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein
