Horror Quote Of The Moment

Welcome to Under The Morgue.

We have sections for each decade of film, from the 1910s onward, as well as sections for 10+ major franchises, close to 50 'smaller' franchises (containing five entries or less), creative writing, independent filmmaking, photography, music, Non-Horror films and TV shows, forum games, and boredom busters, and to top it all off there's an IM shoutbox at the bottom of the page for random chat. From the tame and 'kid sister friendly' to the psychological and mindbending to cheesy splatter flicks to hardcore torture-oriented horror, there's something here for everyone, so why not dive in?

What are some sequels that managed to beat the very first film that started their series?

No one in the entire world will EVER agree with me on this, but Return of the Living Dead Pt. 2... :/

I actually like Return of the Living Dead 2 -- but yeah, totally disagree that it's better than the first. (lol)

^ This, haha. None of the sequels beat the original for me.

I love Return of the Living Dead pt. 2! I would go as far as it meets the first, but doesn't surpass it.

I would say:
Friday the 13th Pt. IV

(will think of more later, gotta run!)

House Of 1000 Corpses is so much more fun than The Devil's Rejects, I much prefered it.

I think Saw II & Saw III are better than the first Saw

Other sequels that surpass their predecessor(s):
Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones
Rob Zombie's H2 (when you're comparing it to his remake only and not the rest of the series)
Friday the 13th Part 2 & Part 6
Bride of Frankenstein
I should also include Final Chapter and maybe New Blood for the Friday the 13th sequels that surpass the original

Bride of Frankenstein might just be on par with Frankenstein, the more I think about it. I mean, it's my favorite, but the two are more on the same level than either one really surpassing the other one. They truly compliment one another.

The same could be said of Alien and Aliens, as well as House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil's Rejects. Although, for House and Rejects, Rejects is Zombie's better film as a writer and director.
