After a high school track runner, named Laura, suddenly dies from a heart attack after finishing a 30-second 200-meter race, a killer wearing a sweat suit and a fencing mask begins killing off her friends on the school track team one by one. The suspects include the track coach Michaels, Laura's sister Anne who arrives in town for the funeral, the creepy school principal Mr. Guglione, and Laura's strange boyfriend Kevin.

I think the only reason its gotten high ratings is cause it came from 1981, the slasher golden year, which i admit DOES make me not completely dislike it, but theres alot of other 80s slashers that are way better.

Amen to that.

I DO praise this one a TINY bit though since while it wasn't fantastic, it could have been much, much worse. (lol) I thought it was just...average, I guess. I need to see it again though.
And Toyland, you're lucky for being able to find the DVD at Wal-Mart of all places! I've had a hard time finding it ONLINE for a good price (lol)

That scare got Robby last night lol.

I really enjoyed it when I reached it. It's far from a top tier slasher though. Christopher George is awesome in this! His character is such a dick but is surprisingly well written, haha. I really love the final girl. Like...a lot. One scene toward the end is actually fairly disturbing for a film like this and I like some of the little sprinklings of a deeper message involving high school athletes that this had (though that aspect wasn't super fleshed out). Linnea Quigley also had a really amusing role. It's just a shame that the pacing was off (I was never bored though) and that only the lead girl, Linnea, and a couple of the others stood out. It's curious - this is a high school slasher but like 90% of the interesting characters were parents and teachers!

Really not sure why I didn't care for it the first time I saw it. I enjoyed it this time around.

Rewatched it last night and I like it alot more now. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood last time I saw it? I don't know. Linnea Quigley's character was by far my favorite lol. It'll never be in my top ten when it comes to 80's slashers, but it's entertaining. I could do without the numerous and random strobing flashbacks though. That shit could give someone a seizure.

I really like the showdown under the bleachers at the end, even if it made no sense that she would escape the killers house, ignore all the other houses on the block for help only to run all the way back to the school lol.

Glad you like it more now too. <3 It's so strange that this is a big "acquired taste" slasher, lol.
