In a small college in North Carolina, only a select few students are left to take mid terms. But, when a killer strikes, it could be everyone's final exam.

I saw this a while ago with very high expectations. The film didn't meet those, unfortunately (for the most part I was expecting alot of gore and a very fast pace) but was still enjoyable. I know a couple other members on here pretty much DESPISE it, seeing it as one of the most boring slashers of the 80s. I disagree, even though yeah, it shouldn't have went 45+ minutes without a kill. That was a bit tedious but hey, Scream did it (41 min. gap). The final half hour IS really awesome though, with almost all of the kills packed into that time. With one or two more kills in the middle 45 minutes or so, this would've been awesome, but as it is, it's still a pretty good movie, but isn't all that rewatchable. 7/10

I don't despise it, I just found it bland and very forgettable.

I still want to buy the DVD even though I wasn't all that impressed.

I don't recall finishing it. I think I got bored with it too quickly to want to carry on.

Can't you see it? The effects of cinema violence on society?

You NEVER quit on an 80s slasher, no matter how bad it may be :P But yes, like I said this should've been better lol.

This was one of the bigger disappointments. I saw it for the first time last year. It was one of those you hear about and think "Early 80s slasher on a college campus called Final Exam? Yes, please!" But it was a crushing blow. Very boring with boring characters we spend a lot of time with at the start and don't want too. It felt like it was a bunch of nothing until the very end. The final girl just seemed like some girl who was just there and it easily could of been a couple of other girls. I will say that once it got down to the final girl and the chase began, it finally got a pulse, but it was flatline until then.

It's not so much a mess as it's just kind of slow and boring most of the time. Nothing really happens until the last 10-15 minutes or so.

What Barry said; With a small handful of kills before then. Really, the pace starts to pick up about 50 or so minutes into it, which isn't too bad considering many films that are seen as classics take even longer for their pace to pick up. The main difference is that the classics had good characters. This didn't so I wasn't all that invested in them. Good third act though. Maybe it's time to dust this bad boy off and sit through it again.

Yeah, it lacked in the character department. A lot of scenes of college shenanigans and a lot of walking around the campus.

Which is what I hated about it. I've only seen it once, a few months ago, and I don't plan on seeing it again anytime soon. Not sure if it's been mentioned, but it's nice how the VHS tape's cover spoils a big thing.

I was hoping it would be one that would grow on me and get better over time, but it hasn't. It gets slower and slower every time. Lol. Still, the climax is always entertaining though.
