Horror Quote Of The Moment

Welcome to Under The Morgue.

We have sections for each decade of film, from the 1910s onward, as well as sections for 10+ major franchises, close to 50 'smaller' franchises (containing five entries or less), creative writing, independent filmmaking, photography, music, Non-Horror films and TV shows, forum games, and boredom busters, and to top it all off there's an IM shoutbox at the bottom of the page for random chat. From the tame and 'kid sister friendly' to the psychological and mindbending to cheesy splatter flicks to hardcore torture-oriented horror, there's something here for everyone, so why not dive in?

Stoked to see an uncut version. I recall this film being blamed for a murder in a small town not far from where I grew up. Apparently the girl had watched it the night before or something.

This is such a random movie to blame for a murder, lol.

It was back in the late 80's/early 90's before video games took over from horror as the scapegoat for everything

^ And Scream (lol)

This is still really random since I didn't think it was that well known, even when it was first released. Halloween, Friday The 13th, etc seem like more likely candidates to blame shit on.

It may have still been in the VHS player or something like that, as I agree too it isn't very well known

So I guess this is the official artwork. I like the 'cranberry sauce' one up above better, but this is nice too.

I'm really confused by the BluRay release. Some people say that their BluRay/DVD ended up being Region Free while others are saying they got the same edition but it is Region 2. The artwork also seems to be different - some sellers have the cranberry sauce cover while others have the other cover of the guy with the machete looking all crazy. Some also have it listed as two discs (two bluray discs), others have it listed as two discs (one bluray, one DVD) and some list it as three discs (two bluray, one DVD).

I'm really confused and I'm almost afraid to order it. I want to get the slipcover, booklet, and all three discs. (wary)

Finally bought this. It was like twenty four bucks but it's new and sealed and is DEFINITELY the three disc edition, lol.

Is it just me or does the tagline on this alternate poster not even go with the movie at all? Lol.

The hell? Yeah, that doesn't fit at all. It'd be better for Dead And Buried or a zombie movie or...something. But not this.

This movie has long been regarded as one of the more unfairly overlooked slasher flicks of the '80s -- yet I've attempted a few times to watch it over the years and have yet to get more than ten or fifteen minutes into it before turning it off and finding something else to watch. There's just something about it that continually fails to maintain my interest. And this coming from a guy who has sat through Rocktober Blood three friggin' times. (lol)

Movie - Uncut version: 1:22:15
Double Jeopardy: Mark Soper Interview: 11:00
Jeez Louise: Louise Lasser Interview: 10:20
Both Sides Of The Camera: Marianne Kanter Interview: 10:00
Man Behind The Mayhem: Ed French Interview: 12:50
Three Minutes With Ted Raimi: 3:20
Return To Shadow Woods: Filming Locations: 5:35
VHS Opening: 5:00
Still Gallery: 4:30
Audio Commentary (Uncut Film): 1:22:20
Movie - Composite Cut (Footage from the Uncut and Theatrical versions): 1:25:10
Outtakes: 26:40
Movie - Theatrical Cut: 1:19:30

The DVD has the contents of the first Bluray disc (uncut film, interviews, and audio commentary) but the second Bluray disc is the only one that has the two alternate versions of the film and the outtakes.

Here's an 'unpackaging' video I recorded earlier that also features other items I got in the mail this past week:
