After India's father dies, her Uncle Charlie, who she never knew existed, comes to live with her and her unstable mother. She comes to suspect this mysterious, charming man has ulterior motives and becomes increasingly infatuated with him.

Just watched it.

It was good. Nothing great, nothing bad. Definitely artistic and beautiful but that doesn't mean I loved it. Something felt a little off. Sure, entertaining, it hinted at a few strong subjects, and the whole film was disturbingly gorgeous. I just won't pick this up in a hurry on Blu-Ray.

Unfortunately, this never came out anywhere near me. Fortunately, it'll be on DVD in eight days!

Definitely excited for the DVD/Blu Ray release! Fantastic film that deserved a much wider release and more appreciation.

This movie is defintely a masterpiece in my opinion. You never know what's going to come next. The characters are developed and you do feel for them. The music is great too. I was never bored with this movie. The actor who played Charlie did so good. I do get a step father vibe to this but the plot is completely different. If you are looking for gore movies then don't watch this. If you are looking for a mystery thriller, I definitely recommend this movie. I got some feels btw and I did not expect that ending. Keon you really need to see this. I know you will love it.

Not a favorite of mine by any means but it IS beautifully shot, with some excellent performances and a few scenes that are enough to make people uncomfortable (myself included). The piano playing scene was enough to have me shifting uncomfortably in my seat. Awkward.

Yeah that scene was a tad awkward but I can't say I'd be in a rush to get away from him or anything since erm...he was hot as fuck. :P

Another small complaint of mine is that too many of the deaths were offscreen or tame. The climax was brilliant though.

Thrillers usually don't focus on gore and brutal kills. Just suspense.

It certainly wouldn't have hurt though. It would've made it a bit more shocking/jarring (in a good way) if you ask me.

Not as good as Oldboy but still near excellent. The cinematography, pacing, editing and sound design just make wonders in this movie. I didn't think much of Matthew and Nicole (which was a shame. They weren't BAD, I just didn't care for them in this.) but however Mia Wasikowska was brilliant in this. She has become one of my favorite movie characters of all-time since her performance deserved an award. Wonderfully paced, beautifully filmed with some great direction, decent acting and some grisly scenes (though I was hoping for a bit more violence). 7.5/10
