Liked a couple scenes in this film, but I think people give it too much credit. |

This is the only horror film to beat me. I had to turn it off after the fire hydrant scene. As bad as that was it was the sound and the shaky cam that got me. I ended up feeling like I had vertigo. |

I've only seen a few scenes of this. I'm going to have to change that when I can. |

It's a tough flick to watch and it's very disturbing but it's a HUGE example of style over substance. A bit of it felt overly pretentious and I was bored near the end but it does have some good qualities. The head bashing, rape and some of the cinematography were the highlights of this film. Not saying the rape and head bashing was enjoyable (cause it sure WAS NOT O_O) but it was so disturbing that it just felt so well-done. 7/10. Not the best but surely not bad. |

Easily the most disturbing rape scene I've ever seen in a film. If you don't handle violence well, the fire hydrant is sure to get you. |

The rape scene is the reason why I never go back to this. It's just so horrible and I doubt I could stomach it again. |

That and the fire hydrant bit were the only scenes I remember being shown, and I don't know if I'll go through the whole thing because of the two, especially with the former being like nine minutes long. |

Lol, I didn't know it was one either though everything I've heard makes it sound horrifying enough to fit into the genre. |

Well we watched it and I must say that while it IS pretty gripping and meanspirited, it didn't fuck with me nearly as much as expected. The fire extinguisher bit was very brutal but I was expecting something alot more obscene and disgusting. The rape itself bothered me a bit but only because of the noises Alex made and the fact that it went on for so long that I found myself thinking "Okay no one is going to stop this and help the poor girl so will this scumbag fuck just FINISH already and get away from her?" :/ Aside from that and the admittedly homophobic dialogue, it didn't mess with me lol. That said, the way the story was told, the cinematography, improvised dialogue, and performances really sold this and made it a mostly excellent film. There were a lot of really nice 'backshadowing' moments where characters did or said things that referenced the events we just saw (but would actually come AFTER). They handled that aspect almost perfectly. The outcome is pretty fucking tragic, especially since we know Spoiler: click to toggle There's honestly much more I could say about this but I'll save it for later, probably. Definitely worth watching for the story, not it's shock value (though some parts will probably get to most people lol). 7.5/10 quality. Wasn't really entertained. >_> Oh and special shoutout to Concha or whatever her name was. :p |
