Horror Quote Of The Moment

Welcome to Under The Morgue.

We have sections for each decade of film, from the 1910s onward, as well as sections for 10+ major franchises, close to 50 'smaller' franchises (containing five entries or less), creative writing, independent filmmaking, photography, music, Non-Horror films and TV shows, forum games, and boredom busters, and to top it all off there's an IM shoutbox at the bottom of the page for random chat. From the tame and 'kid sister friendly' to the psychological and mindbending to cheesy splatter flicks to hardcore torture-oriented horror, there's something here for everyone, so why not dive in?

Norman is a given; next up would be Mary. I thought Meg Tilly was quite good in the role, and it couldn't have been easy for her given Perkins' antagonistic behavior toward her behind the scenes.

^ Why did he antagonize her? Sorry, I don't know much about it.

Meg Tilly was pretty great in the role, though.

I'm really curious about that too. I'm guessing they cover that in the Psycho Legacy documentary and stuff since I don't recall hearing anything about that in the features on the Scream Factory DVD.

The Psycho Legacy doesn't really go deeply into it, and with Perkins having long since passed away you don't get to hear his side of it so all you get are the perspectives of the crew. But director Richard Franklin said about halfway through the shoot Perkins turned on her; he said he got the sense Perkins felt Tilly was upstaging him. Basically, Perkins, this seasoned, veteran actor, had trouble accepting how this younger, less experienced actor could be so good and felt intimidated. Of course that's just silly -- Perkins' Norman Bates performances have always been top-tier stuff. So chalk it up to fragile male ego, or fragile actor ego, whichever.
