"Something or someone is attacking people one by one on the beach. Some of them are mutilated, but most of them are sucked into the sand, disappearing without a trace. What is the creature responsible? Where does it live, and where did it come from? And is there any chance of it reproducing?"

Something or someone is attacking people one by one on the beach. Some of them are mutilated, but most of them are sucked into the sand, disappearing without a trace. What is the creature responsible? Where does it live, and where did it come from? And is there any chance of it reproducing? Meanwhile, David Huffman and Mariana Hill are once-almost-married old friends, reunited over the death of her mother on the beach, and searching for clues in the abandoned buildings where they used to play when they were young.

So before I saw this, I assumed it was a typical slasher film. Instead, I was surprised to find that it was a horror movie about a beach being terrorized by some kind of monster dwelling underneath the sand and sucking people under one by one. It was fairly entertaining, with a couple great scenes, bland deaths, a great atmosphere, and some believable performances including John Saxon (NOES, Black Christmas) as a detective.

Sounds really good - sort of like quicksand but with a monster instead.

I haven't seen this, but one of our local newscasters said he was in this movie before he came here. I have no idea who he played, but he was probably just an extra or something.

I love the tagline at the top of the poster. I kind of want a beach party slasher with this same title.

A decent film. I remember first catching this on late night TV as a kid.
