Horror Quote Of The Moment

Welcome to Under The Morgue.

We have sections for each decade of film, from the 1910s onward, as well as sections for 10+ major franchises, close to 50 'smaller' franchises (containing five entries or less), creative writing, independent filmmaking, photography, music, Non-Horror films and TV shows, forum games, and boredom busters, and to top it all off there's an IM shoutbox at the bottom of the page for random chat. From the tame and 'kid sister friendly' to the psychological and mindbending to cheesy splatter flicks to hardcore torture-oriented horror, there's something here for everyone, so why not dive in?

LOL. Yellow? Really? I know yellow is a bit of a psycho colour but to call a genre yellow?

Back to Plat's OP, I dont think I've seen any Italian euro trash horror films. What do you recommend?
You have to know your history to get that. It comes from back in the 1930s, when retailers in Italian stores published a wide range of lurid, graphic and sexy murder-mystery thrillers that often involved deception, misinformation, sleazy characters and more wrapped up in a crime wave taking place throughout the story. The term comes from the fact that the cover art for these particular novels was colored bright yellow, which to Italians means 'fear' or 'shock' so the translation for the color is "Giallo" the Italian word for yellow. When Mario Bava first started working on the genre back in the 60s with 'Blood and Black Lace' he used a lot of aspects from those novels in the film and the reviews at the time picked up on the trend and remarked that the film was remarkably similar to the 'giallo-novels of yesteryear' but got shortened to just Giallo when it sparked a movement including Bird with the Crystal Plumage, Torso, Your Sweet Body to Kill and What Have You Done to Solange? so it became retro-fitted onto that whole movement.

As for some of my favorites:
Tenebre
Bay of Blood
Blood and Black Lace
The New York Ripper
Deep Red
The Bird with the Crystal Plumage
The Killer Must Kill Again
Torso
What Have You Done to Solange?
Who Saw Her Die?
Do illiterate people get the full effect of alphabet soup?

Some people are like slinkies: not good for anything, but you can't help but laugh when one falls down the stairs.

In no particular order and incomplete (I wanted to keep myself from getting too weird about this):
In the Folds of the Flesh
Don’t Torture a Duckling
The Fifth Cord
The Bird with the Crystal Plumage
Terror at the Opera
A Blade in the Dark
Tenebre
The House with Laughing Windows
Blood and Black Lace
Deep Red
What Have You Done to Solange?
Stage Fright
The Bird With The Crystal Plumage
Lizard in a Woman's Skin
Short Night of Glass Dolls
The Frightened Woman

As far as newer films go, I think I'd pick Amer as my favorite out of those.
