Horror Quote Of The Moment

Welcome to Under The Morgue.

We have sections for each decade of film, from the 1910s onward, as well as sections for 10+ major franchises, close to 50 'smaller' franchises (containing five entries or less), creative writing, independent filmmaking, photography, music, Non-Horror films and TV shows, forum games, and boredom busters, and to top it all off there's an IM shoutbox at the bottom of the page for random chat. From the tame and 'kid sister friendly' to the psychological and mindbending to cheesy splatter flicks to hardcore torture-oriented horror, there's something here for everyone, so why not dive in?

I did karate a few years ago, but I "dropped out" after I failed my belt test. I haven't done anything really since.

Which style, Jethro, and what grade did you get to?

I did a breakaway style from shotokan that's favoured by yakuza. Pretty brutal. Full contact except to the head (full contact only between black belts), no body armour and banned from competition because the top tier guys used 'undue force', so I never got to compete. When my husband and I bought this house it was too far from the dojo so we dropped out, but we still muck around with Dim Mak, as much as you can muck around with it on each other.

I've never taken classes or anything but I've always been curious about it.

It's hard for me to remember the style or anything since I haven't set foot near the place in about eleven years. I believe the test was for my purple belt and I failed at it.

I was hooked on the tv series Kung Fu when I was a kid and had a mad crush on Bruce Lee so I always wanted to get into it. It certainly builds your confidence and spatial awareness.

Jethro, purple level is good. Good on you. At that stage you would have already built in some pretty good techniques if ever you need to use them.

Never tried this, though from what I've seen, it looks fascinating.

I need to learn some self defense techniques. I've been afraid of being jumped by guys recently.

That's pretty cool. I did BJJ and western boxing for I'd say 2+ years. I know some very basic Muay Thai and wrestling.

I'm fucking rusty myself.

It's been a while, but I did seven or eight years of Aikido; about two years of Tae Kwon Do; about a year of Muay Thai; and a few months each of Praying Mantis, Hapkido and Kendo. I'm way out of practice, though.

I know some basic stuff that I learned from a friend who was in Tae Kwon Do and maybe a book or two I have on the subject. I've always been fascinated with it and wanted to be in a class for it but didn't have the money for it.
