Horror Quote Of The Moment

Welcome to Under The Morgue.

We have sections for each decade of film, from the 1910s onward, as well as sections for 10+ major franchises, close to 50 'smaller' franchises (containing five entries or less), creative writing, independent filmmaking, photography, music, Non-Horror films and TV shows, forum games, and boredom busters, and to top it all off there's an IM shoutbox at the bottom of the page for random chat. From the tame and 'kid sister friendly' to the psychological and mindbending to cheesy splatter flicks to hardcore torture-oriented horror, there's something here for everyone, so why not dive in?

Anything that isn't specific to only ONE film (unless it's a recommendation or something) goes here, including; comparing films to eachother, actors/actresses/writers/directors who were popular in this time, the best films of the decade, the worst films of the decade, and so on.

I have to be honest and say that the 2000s were not a good time for horror. At least not to me. I wasn't a fan of what everyone called "torture porn" and the new fad of remakes/reboots. It just wasn't that fun anymore. I did like the "Final Destination" movies quite a bit (except for the 4th), and a few others, but as a life long horror fan, I found myself quite disappointed. I would be hard pressed to even make a top 10 list of favorites.

The decade of the remake.

Although Saw and Final Destination were introduced in this decade, along with far out horror like Hostel, Human Centipede etc this era didn't produce enough for me, it didn't really change horror into a new direction like the 90's did, this era for me just rehashed everything that made the 80's and 90's and on a number of occasions failed to deliver.

Again like every era it did have its good points as mentioned above, but as CGI was used for everything took a little bit of the charm from the 70's and 80's horrors we love.

some remakes improved the originals, some embarrassed.

Other than a handful of favorites and rewatching series, I haven't really been watching too many films from this decade lately.

Same. :P This is still my second fave Horror decade but lately I've been watching more from the 1980s and 2010s.
