A mother and her two sons move to a small coast town in California. The town is plagued by bikers and some mysterious deaths. The younger boy makes friends with two other boys who claim to be vampire hunters while the older boy is drawn into the gang of bikers by a beautiful girl. The older boy starts sleeping days and staying out all night while the younger boy starts getting into trouble because of his friends' obsession.

Holy pretty vampires, Batman! (popcorn) I dig the vampire genre, fandom, concept, etc. And The Lost Boys did a fine job of applying the gang spin on the vampire mythology. It was timely, fun, and filled with pretty people--so 80s! Not to mention great action scenes and strong characters. It's practically a part of my DNA, it's not the best movie of all time, but it's always going to be one of my favorites.

I remember seeing this some time back and it spooked me out. It was a good movie though.

This has to be one of my most favorite horror movies ever! I remember seeing it as a kid, and yeah it scared the shit out of me then, but I didn't care, I still loved it. I couldn't agree more with y'all, it is by far the best vampire movie ever! And the sound track is equally bad ass <3

I really have to get AJ to see it at some point, since he hasn't ever seen it. I'll change that though :)

This one is so much fun. I remember being a little kid and my friend's sister had a framed poster of it in her room and I always wanted to see it.

80s delightfulness with good, fun characters and like Nik said, a great soundtrack. The main character did a good job, though I can't remember ever seeing him anything else. You had Kiefer Sutherland, Dianne Wiest and the two Coreys. Plus, star was pretty hot.

I was drunk and watched this not that long ago, I may have to put it back in.

Kiefer Sutherland needs another really good horror role. It's been too long.

A thoroughly enjoyable and entertaining vampire effort, this one has a lot going for it that really works well. One of the main abilities of this is to actually update the traditional forms of vampire lore into a more modern and rather intriguing series of concepts that play into the era pretty nicely. Rather than feature the traditional European version of the creature that runs around dressed to impress with a focus on keeping his identity a secret at all times, this one's use of rebellious free-spirits who don't really care and figure on just draining anyone they believe will blow their identity but look and act like typical teenagers allows them to blend in quite nicely and make it seem like an attractive, worthwhile life. The updating of the hunting tricks is pretty clever as well, and the ways of incorporating them into the story makes for some nice fun, as well as the different confrontations towards the end when they invade the coven to wipe them out which generates the film's action quotient. While it's got some signs of the time present that come off as goofy, as well as a few other minor flaws, it's overall really fun and entertaining.

I remember this film being so '80s it felt like a parody of the decade. So yeah, I need to see it again.

I was all about this flick the summer before my sixteenth birthday. Love the movie, used to crank the soundtrack out in the garage while working out in my nerdy little homemade gym, and holy shit did I have a thing for Jamie Gertz after this one. Lots of fun; effective scares, involving characters and plenty of humor.

Completely useless piece of trivia: I remember watching Billy Wirth, who played the vamp who gets arrowed to the hi-fi (death by stereo!) competing on American Gladiators a couple years later. Thought it was so cool to see a dude from one of my favorite movies from my teens kicking all kinds of ass in real life. He did really well in AG, too, from what I remember.

IndieWire had a pretty interesting list of five facts for the movie's 25th anniversary. I was looking for things to make a thread for The Lost Girls in the Cancelled Movies section. I had no idea this was almost directed by Mary Lambert.

^ That would've been terrible... As much as I like Mary Lambert. Joel Schumacher brought the homoeroticism that made this film so great to the table.

Plus, I just LOVE the way the film looks. It has such a great visual style. 1987 was a great year, man. I wish I could've experienced it.
