![]() A young social outcast goes to great measures to find the perfect friend in this debut horror feature from director Lucky McKee. Set apart from her peers as a child due to her lazy eye, May's only friend and confidant was a delicate doll encased in glass. Though as a young adult May has learned to control her lazy eye with glasses and contacts, her introverted tendencies always seem to hinder her search for the perfect friend. Walking down the street one day, May happens across a young man tenderly caressing the damage of a wrecked car and falls in love with his seemingly perfect hands. As May and Adam (Jeremy Sisto) begin to spend more time together, the quirky couple seem to have much in common, and May believes that she might have finally happened across the perfect boy. Her deep-rooted psychological problems slowly surface, however, and Adam is gradually driven away, leaving the vulnerable May in the company of amorous co-worker Polly (Anna Faris). |

This film has been out for awhile and I never bothered to watch it, and I wish I had seen it sooner. It's brilliant. May is played by Angela Bettis perfectly, you get she's a loner and a bit twisted and doesn't really fit in anywhere. When her psychological problems break free, the film really picks up. Highly enjoyable!

This is one of my favorite horror movies! When I describe it to people, I always describe it as "A female version of 'One Hour Photo' or 'Taxi Driver.'" I have a friend who's a vet tech (what May is) and I always think about him when I see this movie. |

It's so incredibly sad. All she wanted was the same thing everyone does; Somebody to love. Didn't you just want to leap though the screen, give her a hug, and tell her everything was gonna be alright? Also, what can I say? I like weird too. |

I identify with May in a lot of ways. Creepy, I know. This movie caused me to develop a lingering crush on Angela Bettis. Love her to death as both an actress and a director.

I know what you mean about identifying with May and you're not creepy. I can identify with her, too. I'm pretty shy, have odd mannerisms like she does and people think I'm weird because of it. |

Oh yes, haha. My mannerisms, awkward way of speaking (in person anyway, I do just fine on the phone and online oddly enough) and other things = why I'm like her in ways. To be honest, I connected with May more than I did Carrie White (a character May is often compared to for obvious reasons). |

Beautiful movie full of great performances and a few big surprises. The deaths were simple but good and I felt SO bad for May! I just wish we'd gotten more time spent with some of the secondary victims and May's parents. Seeing more of her childhood and teenage years would have been a treat, forsure.

Couldn't agree more <3. I love May (this film as well as the character) and Anna Faris was a total trip here. I wish the kills had been a bit more graphic but they still managed to be pretty shocking, with my favorite being Spoiler: click to toggle

Well her character WAS the comic relief of this for the most part, and this was one of the first (if not THE first) film I ever saw her in, so that might explain why she never felt out of place to me. |

One of my all-time favorite films. Angela Bettis and Anna Farris are fantastic in this. It's incredibly sad but also delightfully twisted and bloody. It just worked so well. 10/10 |

lol I was surprised to see anna faris in this. I liked this movie, I can pretty much relate to her as well. Been called weird, was avoided because I'm weird, and even a few dudes, I had crushes on thought I was weird. lol Still happens too. (except for the dudes) The kills are effective. My favorite is probably Spoiler: click to toggle I feel really bad for May.I think both Adam and Blank are hot lol |
