Horror Quote Of The Moment

Welcome to Under The Morgue.

We have sections for each decade of film, from the 1910s onward, as well as sections for 10+ major franchises, close to 50 'smaller' franchises (containing five entries or less), creative writing, independent filmmaking, photography, music, Non-Horror films and TV shows, forum games, and boredom busters, and to top it all off there's an IM shoutbox at the bottom of the page for random chat. From the tame and 'kid sister friendly' to the psychological and mindbending to cheesy splatter flicks to hardcore torture-oriented horror, there's something here for everyone, so why not dive in?

Army of darkness. If evil dead 2 ended with just ASH going inside the paradox without showing where he went, it would've been okay.
Agreed 100%

What's with people acting as if The Purge is the worst Horror film of the last decade or so? :P It wasn't THAT bad (I honestly didn't think it was bad at all, really) and there are plenty of worse films out there. *Glares in the general direction of some of the DTV ripoffs, cash-ins and embarrassments of the past 30 years*

I actually watched it about 2 weeks ago - I thought it seemed quite good.

Thank God for you, Kitty! (thumbsup)

And J, I couldn't agree more. Atrocious film but still worthy of existing just to show people that the film they've branded as the 'worst of all time' is NOT one of the worst. (lol)

Looking back, I'm really starting to wonder if I should've given The Purge a 1 out of 5. I mean, it was painfully dull, poorly written, and a waste of a great premise, but it wasn't soul-suckingly horrible. OTOH, isn't that the whole point of giving a film just one star, to tell them that it's a big waste of time?

As to the topic at hand, if I had the option to remove one horror film from history, I'd pick a movie that wasn't just bad, but one that did lasting damage to its franchise or to the horror genre. A bad film on its own is annoying, but when it leaves a mark, then it gets that much worse. As much as I hate Texas Chainsaw 3D (one film where I have no regrets about my 1 out of 5 review), it was an entry in a franchise that has been in a hole for a while, so not much of value was lost. So if it were up to me, I'd have to go with...

Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare.

Not only was it so painful to watch that I turned it off about half an hour in, but it buried not only the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise, but also the slasher genre, and both of them on the worst possible note at that. Worse, it did so at a time when there was no new trend in horror to take the place of slashers, meaning that it sent the horror genre into a dark age for the first half of the '90s.

Howling 2. must be one of the absolute worst direct sequels to a classic in my book.

I Know how many runs you scored last summer, you may think its so bad its good but no, its just so bad.

and last but not least The Fog 2005, anyone who has seen it knows why!

Well its not the worst ever but DAMN it was bad compared to the original, I thought. At least it was pretty memorable though unlike Howling 3 and 4 (which were better but forgettable). I stopped after 4 lol.
