Horror Quote Of The Moment

Welcome to Under The Morgue.

We have sections for each decade of film, from the 1910s onward, as well as sections for 10+ major franchises, close to 50 'smaller' franchises (containing five entries or less), creative writing, independent filmmaking, photography, music, Non-Horror films and TV shows, forum games, and boredom busters, and to top it all off there's an IM shoutbox at the bottom of the page for random chat. From the tame and 'kid sister friendly' to the psychological and mindbending to cheesy splatter flicks to hardcore torture-oriented horror, there's something here for everyone, so why not dive in?

Based on Ridley Scott's groundbreaking film from 1979, Alien for the Atari VCS is a surprisingly good Pac-Man clone (complete with tunnel exits and background siren sounds) and is easily one of the best movie-based games for the system. Players control a flamethrower-equipped Ripley as she eats dots (actually, she's clearing her ship of Alien eggs) while dodging three Alien creatures that roam the maze. The game has solid controls, fast gameplay, and two monotony-reducing features: prizes to collect and Freeway-like bonus rounds in which players must run up a playfield filled with aliens. The only real drawback to the game (other than its derivative nature) is its cartoonish depiction of the alien creatures. However, given the graphical limitations of the system, this weakness is understandable.

Sounds like it could be a lot more fun than some of the other 'old' movie-based games for early systems.
