Yeah that was pretty fucking gross. Robby was like "What kind of dude do you gotta be to get with a chick like that? EW" (which I 'quoted' to you on the phone the other night). ![]() Anyway, I REALLY liked this for the most part. As plain as the setting was and repetitive as some of the 'run and hide' scenes got, I still really liked the main (only) location. It was dark and creepy and so on. Still, the hotel in the first kicks the shit out of it and I DO wish that once it got down to the final two, they would've had those two escape from the hospital/morgue into the streets where Jacob would pursue them, kill one of them, and also kill a couple random cops or something just to bulk up the bodycount. Wouldve made up for SOME of the missteps this film took. For one, the cast is only SEVEN people as opposed to the first film which had TWELVE characters (counting the opening cop-kill) and NINE kills. So of course, the kill count is MUCH smaller. I don't have as much of a problem with this sequel having a smaller bodycount as I am the fact that all but one of the kills were totally forgettable and TWO were pretty much offscreen! And two people died the same way! Seriously, what fucking GIVES?! I wanted a bloodbath and instead I got something that with 30 less seconds of sex and 20 less seconds of violence and 10 fewer cusswords would've gotten a damn PG-13 rating! No Bueno, sirs. As for the death order, I expected Spoiler: click to toggle Sadly, that 'battle' never happened since it was predictable from the ten minute mark onward who the final girl would be. That said, they threw us a terrific curveball by Spoiler: click to toggle Sadly I wasn't invested in the characters enough to genuinely care or be on edge about who would live and die. Plus, it was by-the-numbers as hell until the last 10 minutes or so. ![]() The characters were a mixed bag. Kayla was adorable as hell and while I didn't LOVE her, I was entertained by her and liked her BEFORE the shit hit the fan. Then she became a typical freaked-out cliché. Amy was good as well, but was mostly just a generic - but likeable - character. Tamara was mostly annoying and obnoxious but Katherine gave one of the BEST performances. As much as I disliked Tamara, I gotta give Kat props. She knows how to act out different sorts of characters. That said, she wasn't anything 'new' for her. But still. *shrug* Seth was my favorite guy. Cute, likeable, and became a show-stealer eventually. The other guys were just...sort of there, accompanied by occasional annoying moments and boring "why is he outliving others?!" moments. Bottom line is that this was mostly good and as a standalone I reeeeally like it. But compared to the bloodier, faster paced, fun-character-filled, energetic first film? This was a total letdown. Still, i enjoyed it enough that I'll definitely be buying it before the end of this month...but that is mainly for the special features. With more gore, one or two more great kills and some other tweaks such as the one I mentioned at the bginning of this review, I'd LOVE it. As it is, it was just a mostly good movie that I wouldn't mind seeing again. I don't see myself watching it again unless I see the first right before it. I can watch the first on its own, but not this. :/ 6.5/10 quality. 6-ish/10 entertainment. Likeable and decent but not as great as we'd hoped. |

It did nothing for me on the scares and the constant rehashing of scenes from the first film didn't do it any favors. I give it a 4/10 also for dragging on too long for the last half hour. |

Ouch! Lol. Yeah I wish they'd left the hospital and encountered some random cops or someone else who could get killed, just to balance the third act with the first two pacing-wise. |

I though this was better than the first one. I have to say that I didn't really like any of the characters in the first one so I thought this one had some better characters at least. Yeah, the deaths were not as good, but I just found myself less bored with this one. Spoiler: click to toggle

Any other words for it? ![]() What'd you think of Tamara? To be honest, I was mostly disappointed with all three of the girls which sucks since I expected them to 1) be the final three and 2) be my three favorites. Blah.

Spoilers ahead: Tamara was entertaining. Katharine Isabelle hamming it up is never a bad thing, she was certainly the best thing about this movie. The gore effects and kills were not up to par with the first film. With the exception of KI the rest of the cast is pretty much wasted here. Chelan Simmons is a good actress, but she's not given much to do here. Danielle Harris sleepwalks through the second half of the movie once the killings start. Kaj-Erik Eriksen was not a strong enough screen presence when it came down to it when his character needed to be. I got what this film was trying to do, but it was pretty much a dud. You should never make a film specifically to set up sequels that isn't good enough for anyone to want to make another. |

This wasn’t all that bad of a sequel and definitely had some solid moments at work. This one here is mostly enjoyable when it stays on the simple-minded track of being what a good slasher should be where this certainly gets some solid work in here. The first attack of his resurrection, where he approaches the humping couple off in the side-room by turning off the lights and then appearing behind them when they finally score a lightsource on is a fine suspenseful sequence, as well as the multitude of stalking the partygoers inside the hallways of the hospital where he sets about getting some rather nicely-handled stalking scenes against them. From the rattled panic of trying to find one of the endless rooms to hide in or the absolutely amazing scene in the bathroom where he traps two in different segments and must try not to alert him to either presence yet still try to get out alive which is quite the fun and impressive sequence as well as the fun pitched battle at the end where he begins throwing them around the hospital and generating some solid action that makes fantastic use of his imposing size advantage within the cramped setting. There’s some solid work here as well with the few small details in the kills where it showcases the aftermath of the different kills here which gives this one some rather nice kills and graphic moments coming across their mutilated remains. Though that does come off nicely, it also highlights the first of the film’s flaws here in that really start with that one feature. Though we do get some really graphic kills here, most of them occur off-screen and only feature the group stumbling upon them later, rendering them to such throwaway status that there’s barely anything that can be taken from them. They mostly just seem to gloss over them and simply cuts away before the big moment leaving only a few minor pieces of blood-splatter on-screen rather than getting to the actual shot here. As well, the fact that this becomes all the more apparent due to the film’s surprisingly low body-count where it doesn’t really have a ton of choices to begin with here so the timing of this one does feel a little off here throwing the deaths into small spurts and then not going through on it’s best work at that point, which leaves the kills all around pretty unsatisfactory with a small cast getting bloody and brutal deaths for the most past off-screen. The last problem here is the ending, which scores nicely with the surprise death and the big finale brawl around the hospital resulting in an appropriate and grisly death, but the final shock moment blatantly ignores what happened moments before merely to get a cheap jump that won’t work based on the actions that just occurred moments earlier. It’s a lame and unsatisfactory ending that leaves this with a sour impression, but is otherwise still a fine enough slasher. |

Well, part of that could've been fixed with a better body count since the ones here were mostly crap. It was all off-screen, and then the party they throw for her is so small it doesn't offer a lot of chances so it's really all-around disappointing. That really could've lifted it up a lot since the aftermath of many of them looked like they could've been awesome to see play out on-screen. |

Mediocre and disappointing, especially since the Soskas definitely didn't deliver on the battle of the final girls they promised (in a Facebook post, but still) The kills were also disappointing, and the douchey older brother was pretty unbearable. And Danielle's fierce final girl acting was, as always, incredibly painful. Someone tell her that screaming =/= badass (and tell Emilia Clarke that too). I also really hated the ending with Spoiler: click to toggle The directing was solid though. I also LOVED Katharine Isabelle in this. She was hilarious and made the film bearable. Seth was pretty likeable as well. Edited by Repo, Jul 22 2016, 04:41 AM.
