This poster is just so damn cool. I first heard about this movie a year ago when I was still in the hospital for my surgery. It sucks that it's had so much trouble getting released, but I am damn looking forward to it. Everyone knows I love horror-comedies, and this movie looks just wonderful. Plus any horror film where kids get killed has balls. |

This movie is really weird. The hype for it keeps dying down only to come back like three weeks later. So far, I haven't heard/seen ANYTHING about this month but earlier this summer, people were gushing over it so I'm expecting people to start talking about it again next month. I remember when pretty much all of my old classmates were posting things about it on Facebook.

Yeah, I remember over a year ago, I was watched interviews with Elijah Wood on Conan about this movie. Then it kind of disappeared like Bridget Fonda after 2002. |

This was pretty good. The opening credits might be the grossest thing in a horror movie this year. The cast was great. I was surprised that, except for Rainn Wilson, the funniest characters were the ones played by the cast members without much comedy experience. Leigh Whannell actually played the funniest character. If he ever wanted to, he would probably do pretty well guest starring on a sitcom. The gore is pretty impressive, especially considering some of the special circumstances that come with working with children. There's a few things that weren't great. The humor sometimes seems to be going for something intentionally cheesy, which means that some of it doesn't really land. I'm not entirely sure that Jack McBrayer's character had a purpose, and Jorge Garcia could have filmed his scenes months before anyone else, since he doesn't interact with anyone until the stuff from the reshoot. The pace was off and a little too slow in some spots. I'm guessing that the original ending tied things up a bit more, because the one we got was kind of random. I'd be interested in seeing what it was going to be originally. Despite all that, I'd support a Cooties 2. |

I agree the humor was off at times and the ending didn't sit all too well. My biggest issue was the editing of onscreen gore/violence though. Yeah I get that they're children, but they're vicious zombie children and this movie has an r-rating. Why only go 50% of the way? If we're supposed see a kid getting smashed in the head by a baseball or slashed with a hockey stick, maybe show it instead of doing sloppy quick cuts? It doesn't need to linger or be excessive, just make it visible. |

I think some of the quick cuts were trying to have the movie be gory without traumatizing the child actors or risking injuring them, but they should have added a few off-screen kills with the aftermath shown. |

I fully understand, however this is one case where I wouldn't mind some cgi gore add afterwards. All the scenes with gore can be counted on one hand lol. Despite my post coming off as harsh I enjoyed it for the most part, and it's very clear that the focus was mostly on comedy in this. |

So I watched it with Robby the other night and while I liked it, I have a feeling that I might have hyped it up for myself without realizing it since I was a tad overwhelmed. The deaths (few as there are after the first 25 minutes, sadly) are fine for the most part. The kids get it rough but it's nothing disturbing and even when kids are getting pelted in the face with sports equipment, it was never hard to watch. That's totally fine with me since that would've made this feel kind of awkward and uneven since it was mostly a comedy. It's tone is more Zombieland than Shaun Of The Dead (but it's better than Zombieland, thank Christ) and for the most part, the humor works. There's a few really stupid moments (the shit hands/'no gloves' part was really dumb and immature) but the film isn't really ruined by those. I liked a few of the characters. The love triangle aspect was really interesting since - and this is unusual for love triangles in horror-comedies - we're meant to really like all three and not just the girl and the dorky main guy who falls for her. Usually, we're supposed to dislike her current boyfriend and hope she gets with Dorky Main Dude but with this, I was fine with both guys which was odd since I didn't know who she should've ended up with. I really liked the bitchy old fashioned pro-gun teacher<3. The two kids in the group were 'meh' and sort of lost their purpose by the halfway mark. The biggest problem I have here is the fact that Spoiler: click to toggle I get that this sort of set up a sequel (that I'd gladly watch<3) at the end but seriously? Kill off at least one or two more people at the end. But like I said...this is more Zombieland than Shaun Of The Dead. ![]() The pacing is fine even if it gets a little too chatty. I loved the main teacher chick's meltdown (I love that Alison was a crazed teacher in Snowpiercer and a teacher in this as well). The effects are mostly good, the opening is fucking DISGUSTING (so glad I don't eat chicken anymore) and it didn't outstay its welcome. I recommend it even though it wasn't AS awesome as I heard it would be. 5.5/10 quality, 7/10 entertainment. |

I saw this yesterday, and I forgot to look this up haha But I loved this movie! I didn't really overhype it, because I had barely seen any of the trailers besides the first and just reading about it. I think it did the premise well and it had a lot of actors I'm familiar with and from tv shows and movies that I love. I caught all the small winks and nods to other things they've starred in and had a good laugh over it. The movie does get slow after a point to where I almost nodded off. I also agree with John that because Spoiler: click to toggle it did kind of drag the movie down. I'm just happy that Spoiler: click to toggle didn't die because he was my favorite character!"Rebekah, quiet please!" <-- I'm going to be using that a whole lot more often now

Agreed pretty much across the board. I liked it a bit more than you did -- I thought the humor was absolutely hysterical. I did think that, aside from the three mains and Leigh Whannell, most of the supporting characters were pretty interchangeable, and that it was really only the cast that made them work. I wish they'd killed more of them off (especially Jack McBrayer's character; like you said, he pretty much had no purpose except to scream in terror) just to raise the stakes later on. Still, I had a friggin' blast watching this movie. Definitely recommended. My full review is here. |

I enjoyed this a lot, but was slightly disappointed by the lack of deaths. At least it made up for that by being genuinely funny. Loved the hobbit joke, and Rainn Wilson's bit about the 80's montage ( It was lacking the 80's montage song though ). Leigh Whannel is proving himself as a VERY capable writer. He has nailed the extreme gore movie, the subtle supernatural film and now comedy/horror. Can't wait to see what he does next. |

Just watched this last night. Bought it without having seen it. I wish I had rented it first. Let me start by saying, I really did quite enjoy this movie, and I'll definitely watch it again someday, but I was expected so so so much more. I've been wanting to see it since mid-2014, when I saw an interview with Elijah Wood about it while I was in the hospital for my heart surgery in June 2014. He made it sound epically hilarious and gory. Lets just say it didn't quite deliver hilarious or epic. It was a fun movie, no doubt. Quite enjoyable with quirky, entertaining, colorful characters. The characters are what made this film. Same with the dialogue. Some of the dialogue IS hilarious, but it wasn't nearly as hilarious as I originally expected. Same goes for the violence in the movie. I really was expecting a campy-classic bloodbath, but Spoiler: click to toggle Another issue I had with it was that it wasn't really all that action-packed or crazy until the last ten minutes, and even then, the final fight only lasted about 10 minutes. And then the film just... Ends. Spoiler: click to toggle I really think that, as enjoyable as this feature was, it would've worked better as maybe a 45 minute short film. It has the potential to be like an amazing episode of like... Masters of Horror or something. It just felt overlong, like they took a short story and tried to expand it into a full-length feature film, and it caused the film to kind of drag, which is funny since the credits start at like the 84 minute mark. Once again, I did enjoy the film. The characters were colorful and quirky, and the actors did damn fine jobs delivering them... I just expected more. With a plot like that, and with a title like "Cooties," I expect something crazy hilarious and violent... But it was pretty standard and overall just okay. Overall grade: B- |

Not reading reviews because I haven't seen it yet. However, this movie looks absolutely awesome and I'm going to try to find it as soon as I get the chance. The acting looks pretty good and I love the idea of a zombie apocalypse set in a school that they can't escape from. |

^ You should watch High School Of The Dead (anime series) and some of the other movies that handled school zombies better. I was more satisfied by the ten minute school scene in Resident Evil: Apocalypse than I was with the deaths in this. That says a lot since I don't like Apocalypse much. I still don't mind this though. |
