So Never Sleep Again and Crystal Lake Memories have gotten me really interested in getting some more series retrospective documentaries for various series. Which series do you think should get a 4+ hour documentary?

^I wish I remember who it was, but I listened to a podcast of someone dishing a bit of the dirt about making Revelations, and it was pretty interesting. I don't know that they'd get the okay for it, but a candid look at that mess would get my attention.

^ Ty, Scream already has like 4 90+ minute documentaries! (lol)

Of course, one that gives a full 60 minutes to each film (instead of 40 to the first with the rest of the time divided up) would be nice. But since that series has already gotten so much coverage I don't think I'd mind waiting at least a few more years. I'd be cool with one in a year or so IF they cover both seasons of the TV show as well though.

I want a really good Halloween one.

One on Child's Play or Hellraiser would be great as well.

Since a lot of people are listing Hellraiser, I wanted to mention Leviathan: The Story of Hellraiser and Hellbound: Hellraiser II. The release was pretty under the radar, so I wasn't sure if everyone had heard about it.

It definitely doesn't have everything that I would want from a Hellraiser documentary, though.

I haven't heard of it! I'll definitely check it out if I get the chance!

The problem with a Hellraiser retrospective is that hardly anybody would care about what the Franchise's BTS was like after Bloodline.

I don't stay up to date with the documentary scene. :P

Poltergeist deserves it the most. It would definitely deal with the tragedies though.

Even though Scream already has quite a few, I'd really like one that features a solid 45+ minutes about Scream 4 as well as a 30+ minute segment about the TV shows and extra stuff about the future of the Scream series as a whole. Give a half hour to each of the first three films as well and voila - you have a 3 hour documentary that would be pretty satisfying depending on how many people they get to interview.

Lately I've been craving a really good, really long Phantasm documentary.

Romero's Dead series needs some love too even though we already know all there is to know about Night, Dawn, and Day.

Scream is one that I'd wait a little while for. We already have two documentaries covering the original trilogy, Still Screaming and Scream: The Inside Story. Maybe in about five or ten years, after the TV show has long since wrapped up, we can get an in-depth, Never Sleep Again-style retrospective.

And Vanessa, you mentioned The Exorcist. Well, it just so happens that they already made one (albeit mainly for the original film). It was called The Fear of God: 25 Years of The Exorcist, and it was a BBC documentary by Mark Kermode that's included on the 25th anniversary DVD and (I think) on the Blu-Ray.

As for what I'd recommend for the retrospective treatment, I'd say that the Saw series is just about ready at this point.

With The Exorcist, the first film is the one that I'm least curious about. I saw that, but it really didn't go into most of the stuff I would actually be interested in.

I bet a great documentary could be made about the prequel to The Exorcist, though something tells me it'd be more like Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker's Apocalypse than anything. As for the second film, well, we could use an answer on whether that story of studio executives being chased out of the theater by an angry mob within ten minutes is true or not...

I really hope that is true because it's a great little mini-story. And I'd love to see something about the two versions of the prequel. Exorcist III also deserves a bit more love. I think I've seen even less about that than any of the other films that came after the original. So yes, an Exorcist documentary that covers all of the films would be great. I'm sure there's enough info we don't know that it could be Never Sleep Again length (4 hours, at least).

Does the Psycho series have one? If not, it needs to. Especially in regards to the remake.

Same for Hatchet if there isn't one already

I forgot the main question proposed a 4+ hour documentary for these retrospectives. So, not Hatchet I guess, but Psycho for sure.
