Horror Quote Of The Moment

Welcome to Under The Morgue.

We have sections for each decade of film, from the 1910s onward, as well as sections for 10+ major franchises, close to 50 'smaller' franchises (containing five entries or less), creative writing, independent filmmaking, photography, music, Non-Horror films and TV shows, forum games, and boredom busters, and to top it all off there's an IM shoutbox at the bottom of the page for random chat. From the tame and 'kid sister friendly' to the psychological and mindbending to cheesy splatter flicks to hardcore torture-oriented horror, there's something here for everyone, so why not dive in?

What are some of the worst twist endings you've seen? What do you think caused them to fail to be effective?

I guess TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE: THE BEGINNING. I mean really, am I the only person on earth who saw that coming?

THE FOG remake. It's been a while, but I don't recall it making a whole lot of sense.

THE VILLAGE, if only because I guessed it. Seriously, I joked about it, and BOOM, my joke became reality. Wow.

Dream House: Having it in the trailer is the main thing that ruined it. It probably wouldn't be so bad if someone watched it for the first time now.

Not sure if I would call it the worst, but April Fool's Day (1986).

High Tension-rewrites entire sections of the movie simply to be able to say 'Gotcha!'
Do illiterate people get the full effect of alphabet soup?

Some people are like slinkies: not good for anything, but you can't help but laugh when one falls down the stairs.

People need to lay off the High Tension twist. It's awesome and fits perfectly with the film's style-over-substance(unless that substance is fake blood) atmosphere... And Cecile de France plays up the fuck out of the role of Marie in it.

I think the twist makes the movie the awesome cult classic that it is. I think it's a great film even without it, but without it, it really is just a high-quality style survival flick. Nothing more. The twist makes it memorable.

I think the twist is completely ludicrous.

It's not the concept of the twist that gets me. I actually like it. It's what doing that in that form does to the rest of the movie along the way.

I know this is more sci-fi/drama, but The Forgotten. Definitely The Forgotten.

Calling her crazy explains the rationale for her obsession, I get that, but the way this one undergoes it's twist undoes the whole rest of the movie and makes it redundant.
