Horror Quote Of The Moment

Welcome to Under The Morgue.

We have sections for each decade of film, from the 1910s onward, as well as sections for 10+ major franchises, close to 50 'smaller' franchises (containing five entries or less), creative writing, independent filmmaking, photography, music, Non-Horror films and TV shows, forum games, and boredom busters, and to top it all off there's an IM shoutbox at the bottom of the page for random chat. From the tame and 'kid sister friendly' to the psychological and mindbending to cheesy splatter flicks to hardcore torture-oriented horror, there's something here for everyone, so why not dive in?

What are some of the worst twist endings you've seen? What do you think caused them to fail to be effective?

Boxing Helena: It doesn't really fit the tone of the rest of the movie. It seems like a bit of a cop out.

And I don't remember thinking The Forgotten's twist was all that bad!

Honestly, Orphan has kind of a stupid twist. I like it and was definitely shocked by it, but the more I think about it, the more I'm just like "gosh darn, that's so freaking ridiculous." :/

The ending of The Haunting of Molly Hartley infuriated me both times I saw it. They so badly wanted to be shocking, but completely failed, and worse, it ended the movie right when it presented an interesting idea that it could've run with in the third act.

^ I didn't really think the ending of Molly Hartley was all that bad either. It was in line with the meaning of the film.

High Tension-rewrites entire sections of the movie simply to be able to say 'Gotcha!'
Dear God, yes. It is SUCH a cheat. There is zero build up, and it actively contradicts stuff we saw. Not to mention that's an overused twist in general

Anyways, yeah. Aside from High Tension:
Friday the 13th
Shutter Island
Dexter Season 6
Saw 4
Dark Ride
The Final Destination
I Know What You Did Laat Summer
I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer
Scream 3 (and by extension, Scream MTV S1)
Carrie 2002
Vacancy 2
Halloween 2

Puppy, just because there's no evidence she killed her aunt doesn't make her dating material.

Shame on me indeed. I cannot believe I forgot that. It absolutely qualifies.

I'll also say the new Stage Fright movie. Not only was it so predictable that my friend and I called the killer, motive, and EVERYTHING else.... But we even predicted actual lines the killer said. Seriously

Frailty's is kind of weak too, enough to take a point or two off my rating. It's not as bad as most here, but the movie is so great that it is more upsetting
