Outcast Of The Group Posts: 1,045 Group: Members Member #10 Joined: Apr 7, 2013	Up until we saw the Fisherman in all of his big, intimidating glory, I saw Elsa as a pretty good red-herring in I Know What You Did Last Summer. After all, she was a total bitch, seemed suspicious every now and then, and I would've believed it if it had been revealed that she overheard Helen talking with Barry (or someone else) about the hit-and-run. Of course, I haven't yet read the book, so I'm sure I wouldn't have suspected her one bit if I had read it before watching the film.

Is it a false something? Like who you think is the victim when it's someone else? or a murderer? That sort of thing?

I hate when the red herrings are more interesting than the actual story. The worst is usually any movie where it ends up just being in a character's head.

With that . . . Death (The Frighteners) -- you think it's Death coming after people when in fact it's Johnny Bartlett's ghost, that of Patricia's boyfriend Clark (John Carpenter's The Thing) The Cook (TCM, original) & Sheriff Hoyt (TCM, remake) -- both reverse red herrings, in a way. Not so much victims as thought to be rescuers (Captain Spaulding in House of 1000 Corpses in that sense then too) The people who we thought were ghosts instead of the actual ghosts (The Others) Worst Deputy Judy Hicks (Scre4m) I know there are more for Worst, but nothing's springing to mind.
