Horror Quote Of The Moment

Welcome to Under The Morgue.

We have sections for each decade of film, from the 1910s onward, as well as sections for 10+ major franchises, close to 50 'smaller' franchises (containing five entries or less), creative writing, independent filmmaking, photography, music, Non-Horror films and TV shows, forum games, and boredom busters, and to top it all off there's an IM shoutbox at the bottom of the page for random chat. From the tame and 'kid sister friendly' to the psychological and mindbending to cheesy splatter flicks to hardcore torture-oriented horror, there's something here for everyone, so why not dive in?

Not sure if we have this already but;

What Horror films suffered the worst fates at the hands of the MPAA? :P

Friday 7, most definitely. Love the movie, but it's so obviously neutered when you watch it.

Look it up ;)

A lot of the Saw films have been harmed by the MPAA in some way or another.

Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood is the biggest one. The MPAA butchered it like hell. It's rare when you see blood squirting out of a wound cause there is barely ANY gore. It pisses me off so much.

I can also say Scream though it wasn't butchered as much as the film above. But a lot of things were edited or cut out which is sad.

Fido: They chose to release without edits, but it is ridiculous that it was originally rated R.
Santa Sangre
Dead Alive: Because the MPAA hated Peter Jackson before The Lord of the Rings, all of his movies would apply, but this one bothers me the most.
Sleepaway Camp 3

Evil Dead and Evil Dead II originally got an X rating I think.

The MPAA is such a joke.

Army of Dead did, too. That one might have gotten the harshest edits. Universal was going to take out another six minutes from the already edited version that was going to be released to theaters, because they wanted a PG-13. Even Drag Me To Hell had to have some gore taken out.

I'm pretty sure that someone at the MPAA just has a personal vendetta against Sam Raimi.

Something like Cannibal Holocaust, fine. But Evil Dead? So weak. I'm probably one of the few who thinks the X rating for Blood Sucking Freaks and A Clockwork Orange was unwarranted as well.

Nah you're not. A Clockwork Orange had its disturbing moments but it didn't 'get to me' and to be honest, I didn't see what the hype was about.

Also the NC-17 for Scream and the X (!!!) rating for TCM III were just major WTFs. Horror films in the 90's got it bad.

Surprised I didn't see the original My Bloody Valentine here. Something like nine minutes got cut by the MPAA, mostly because it came out right after John Lennon was murdered. Thank Satan for the uncut version finally coming out in time for the remake.

Didn't Scream only have like...20 seconds removed? (wary)

I didn't know MBV '81 had nine minutes removed. All of the gore is back in the uncut DVD but it's still only three or four minutes longer than the theatrical DVD.

Quite a few of the Friday the 13th movies, but New Blood especially.

I'm sure Rob Zombie's movies have been butchered in some way. House of 1000 Corpses mostly, but that could have been when Zombie had to switch studios.
