I went into this little movie on Netflix without ever hearing of it before. At all. so I figured it would be a so-bad-it's-just-bad flick and I'm pleased to say that aside from some occasional bad cinematography, a few moments of bad lighting, and only two likeable characters in the whole thing (thank god they were the two leads though) it was VERY fun, entertaining, witty, and surprisingly heartfelt at times. Some of the dialogue had my boyfriend and I cracking up. I love that while there are some ridiculous sight gags, the humor is 90% related to dialogue. That's a welcome relief from many horror comedies out there that try too hard. The effects here were clearly born from a low budget but again...not bad at ALL! Blood and nasty looking zombies galore! It can easily be placed alongside 247 F, ATM, and Frozen since its mainly just in one location. Of course, it's a lot more lighthearted than those, but it still contains some pretty surprising deaths, often sad dialogue, and one moment that made my stomach drop and thoughts of "that's too fucked up a story for this movie..." before realizing it was a lie. PHEW! It never takes itself super seriously and even the sad moments are backhanded by a heavy dose of wellplaced humor. Is it BETTER than the likes of Shaun Of The Dead? HAHAHAHA FUCK NOOOOO, but I have a feeling a double feature of the two would be a blast! I definitely recommend this, though you should probably go into it with low expectations and not see my review as the Bible since this definitely isn't something EVERY Horror fan would enjoy. 7.5/10 |
