Horror Quote Of The Moment

Welcome to Under The Morgue.

We have sections for each decade of film, from the 1910s onward, as well as sections for 10+ major franchises, close to 50 'smaller' franchises (containing five entries or less), creative writing, independent filmmaking, photography, music, Non-Horror films and TV shows, forum games, and boredom busters, and to top it all off there's an IM shoutbox at the bottom of the page for random chat. From the tame and 'kid sister friendly' to the psychological and mindbending to cheesy splatter flicks to hardcore torture-oriented horror, there's something here for everyone, so why not dive in?

List the cliches and trends of 80s Slashers that annoy the hell out of you as well as the ones that you're actually quite fond of<3.

I'm annoyed with the cat always jumping out. Lol. Sometimes it's like "how the hell did it get in there?!"

As for the trends and cliches I like? Most of them. Lol.

The dramatic opening that sets the movie into motion for example-

The Prom Night opening, Terror Train opening, Burning opening ect

Speaking of those films- the entire "X coming back for revenge or to avenge" plot is my favorite plot device of those films.

As far as nudity goes, I don't think the peeping tom trope is nearly as prevalent now as it was in the 80s.

One trope that was always painful is how inhumanly sadistic the "pranks" in them were. Terror Train and April Fool's Day being amongst the worst offenders

Puppy, just because there's no evidence she killed her aunt doesn't make her dating material.

I liked the '80s, as well as the '70s, for their cold openings. Setting up their main killers and all.

The music wasn't always great, but when it was it rocked.

The clothes are a little ridiculous, of course. I'm not a fan of seeing sunglasses all over horror movies of this time.

Also, some montages work and some don't. Not just an '80s trend, I know, still...

Random dancing scenes like the one in Freddy's Revenge don't work. Not for me.
