Horror Quote Of The Moment

Welcome to Under The Morgue.

We have sections for each decade of film, from the 1910s onward, as well as sections for 10+ major franchises, close to 50 'smaller' franchises (containing five entries or less), creative writing, independent filmmaking, photography, music, Non-Horror films and TV shows, forum games, and boredom busters, and to top it all off there's an IM shoutbox at the bottom of the page for random chat. From the tame and 'kid sister friendly' to the psychological and mindbending to cheesy splatter flicks to hardcore torture-oriented horror, there's something here for everyone, so why not dive in?

It's one of my favorite parts of the Hatchet films. I love how they each blend into each other.

^ Minus the recasting of Marybeth anyway. ;)

Halloween 4 and some of the Saws had pretty great cliffhangers.

Halloween '78 had a nice one though a sequel wasn't on their mind when it was made as far as I know.

Even though I'm not super into the Freddy vs. Jason thing and it didn't even happen right away, I might still count the end of JGTH as one of the best cliffhangers.

I'm confused.

I thought the definition of "cliffhanger" meant that another serial or film had to continue the story following a huge spike of an ending where something is left unresolved... But in horror, there almost never is any follow-up. Or there is but money falls through. That kind of thing.

Halloween 4
The Divide had a pretty epic cliffhanger of sorts.
The Blair Witch Project
Hatchet 1 and 2
The Mist.

Yeah, I'd have to agree. It's so easy to confuse 'cliffhanger' with 'ambiguous' though, I feel, and that's where my head is out. So, I'm trying my hardest not to do just that, because they both mean open-ended, for the most part.

The Hatchet series would be a great example.

Evil Dead II: Dead by Dawn is another one.

Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers has one of the best endings in the series, and yet the 5th entry fell through so hard on the 4th one's promise.

I do like the ending to Jason Goes to Hell, I just wish we ended up with a better versus movie between the two horror titans.
