Sounds okay, not sure what to say about this plot. I need to see a trailer to see how it is.

Well...I must say that of the six movies Robby and I watched over the last couple of days, this was definitely the best, surprisingly. I totally forgot this existed until I saw a copy of it at WalMart last night, read the case, and decided to give it a shot. To sum up the story, this is pretty much a mixture of Last Night (AMAZING drama film about the end of the world), The Divide (one of the most gutwrenching movies of the decade), with little bits of The Purge (the people going insane and killing eachother and themselves with hammers, machetes, guns, etc) thrown in for good measure.

Nathan Phillips gives a better performance here than he did in Wolf Creek and Snakes On A Plane (can't remember what else I've seen him in) and he looked his best as well (hurrah for him getting a nude scene, lol). His character is better as well. I like that he was a total hero in some ways but wasn't an over-the-top badass. Instead, he has a lot of emotional conflict going on and is often torn between acting in a selfish way and acting to help others. Loved the guy. Rose was a very realistic character. Despite being a kid, she was one of the more grounded and mature of the characters but also brought a sense of innocence to everything that was going on. Some of the situations she was forced into, from the two guys trying to assault her to the crazed woman looking for her dead child, were pretty horrifying and were the sort of things I was expecting the little girl in The Divide to go through. (shock)

Zoe was a pretty tragic character. Despite not being put through as much hell as a lot of the others, she still had her fair share of stuff to deal with. I wish we had gotten more of her instead of just a few scenes since I liked her. Vicki was batshit crazy and seemed like someone who I would NOT want to be around in such a nasty situation, but I can...sort of see why she ended up like that. Her "I DONT WANT TO DIE" breakdown and false sense of desperate hope really got out to me as did her
Spoiler: click to toggle
I didn't like Freddie at all. He seemed like how someone around where I live (the conspiracy theorists anyway) would act in this situation. He was annoying and so was his hair. Mandy's mother was the Marilyn (The Divide) of this film. She wasn't abused but she was definitely 'snapped' in the same way Marilyn was and even though she did more harm than good, I didn't see her as a total villain. I can't say I LOVED her though because she was...kind of scary as shit. (shock) I wish the radio station guy had been more of an actual character since I wanted to know more about him, lol.

James' mother brought some temporary calm and sweetness to this as someone who was totally accepting the end of the world. I felt terrible for her because she was also probably the most lonely character of them all.

Everyone else here were borderline nobodies, just there to cause conflict, kill people, die horribly, etc. which is totally fine. I preferred that this only had seven or eight real characters. I'm also fine with some characters vanishing since well....it's obvious from the get-go that no matter what happens, in the most Last Night-esque way possible, they're fucked. It's just a matter of whether or not they'll live to see the world end, I guess. (lol) It's a pretty sad, well acted movie despite the craziness and bloodshed all over the place and it does a fairly good job of showing the good AND the bad ways people would react to this situation. I can definitely see myself watching this a few more times<3.

7/10 quality, 8+/10 entertainment.
