Oh damn, kick ass assassin chick trying to kill her parents killers. I did like this movie simply for the fact of girl power and maybe the assassin chick bit always thrills me like crazy and makes me jump up and down like an idiot(I'm just weird I know, i like girls who can kick ass and take names) |

Zoe Saldana was great in this, and the action scenes were great. The first half was all really good, but the movie starts going downhill once Michael Vartan's character comes in. If it wasn't for the romantic subplot, the movie would be a lot better. I guess it's a change from the norm for the film to make the audience hate the useless, personality void boyfriend? |

For the most part this is highly entertaining. A little troubling of an Action film but overall there's some rather outstanding moments here that do bring this up quite well. The simplistic, formulaic story and over-long sequences do hold this down somewhat as there's not a lot of originality really done here as this just tends to run through a series of predictable notions without really doing much of anything with them so it all comes off as familiar with the past traumas spurring the present, and then it just takes forever to get past scenes that have no real business taking as long as they do such as the opening scene in the village where they chase her for what seems like ages without catching up to her. It's stuff like that which holds up the rather more enjoyable nature of the second half when she's doling out her hits and taking on the henchmen which gets quite fun and enjoyable with numerous confrontations which showcase her skills to the fullest from the calculated elimination of the guards at the mansion to the escape from the hotel during the SWAT team invasion as well as the final assault on the ganglord's compound. This is a real highlight with numerous firefights, plenty of shooting with the appropriate amount of fighting and finally plenty of explosions which makes for a fun time overall and really helps to overcome the slight downtime. |

Do illiterate people get the full effect of alphabet soup? Some people are like slinkies: not good for anything, but you can't help but laugh when one falls down the stairs. My review blog: http://donshorrormovieblog.blogspot.com/ | |
