Hearing the guys from Dawn Of The Dead '04 were involved and reading some articles in Fangoria got me super excited for this before it came out. Then I watched it and was...pretty disappointed. I only liked a couple of characters and it focused way too much on humor (though a few moments really were funny) but it had some great gross-out moments and good pacing. It wasn't bad, but wasn't as great as I hoped it'd be. Its been years though so I may need to resee it. |

This was on tv today. I thought this was alright. Not really funny but I liked the special effects and how gross it was. Good pacing like jon said but nothing spectacular. |

You should watch it on stream or DVD sometime, its better when not edited down for TV since Im sure they cut out a good bit of stuff.

I thought this was pretty good and entertaining, although I've only seen it once and that was a few years ago. |

Well...that took a while to get around to rewatching this. I can't say I liked it MORE this time than I did a few years ago but I definitely appreciated the humor more and it was nice seeing Elizabeth Banks in another Horror movie. I wish it had been a little gorier with more major characters in the group to get killed off instead of having most of the characters die in the first sixty minutes with only a handful left in the last 35 or so. I was still satisfied by all of the super gross moments in this, though Dead Alive this was certainly not. Brenda's stuff was really gross and hilarious (Robby was pretty disgusted by what he considered 'borderline tentacle porn', lol) and I liked the big swarm/attack at that family's house. They should've had that last a little longer though with the family of five getting attacked one by one or something. Nice Nightmare On Elm Street homage with the bathtub scene though! I wish the female cop and dispatcher girl had more to do, Mayor Macready reminded me of Sullivan Groff in Weeds Season Three which made him even funnier to me, and I thought everyone gave pretty good performances even with some bad dialogue here and there. Still really fun but I still don't LOVE it and it still feels like it's missing something. |

This was quite an enjoyable and often hilarious creature feature. One of the better aspects here is the rather enjoyable feel of constantly keeping something new going for it, never going for what should've been an obvious ploy and generating a lot of interesting twists. The initial start here is all perfectly in line for this one to be an alien invasion effort, yet instead this is a parasite-induced effort with zombie slaves controlled with an insect-like hive-mind from the center source which is pretty novel here because as well as the change in the second half where it becomes more about the parasites rather than staying with the deformed creature. The action throughout here features all manner of interesting notions here, furthering that storyline as well as giving this one another impressive facet here. This one manages to keep offering plenty of enjoyable encounters here, from the initial possession in the forest, the attack on the town floozy in her home and the initial farmland attack out in the woods where they first meet up with his now grossly-deformed appearance all providing some fun throughout here. Once into the woods, the teams' encounter with the parasite-infested host is a stellar scene that brings about a cheesy source of action as the expanding body rips open and unleashes the ravenous creatures upon the troops which unleashes the over-the-top final half with this one going for the parasite assault on the farm- house and later bringing the zombified parents into this for some chills mixed into the cheese that carries along into the zombies overrunning the town with their slave-like hive-minded behavior allowing for the fun getting deeper into their territory. This sets up the great fun in the finale with the house assault rescue attempt leading to the final confrontation with the inhuman blob-like being that features prominently in this scenes, gets a few laughs and overall making for a lot of fun. Along with the fantastic make-up on the creatures and a nice bit of cheese here, these are more than enough to hold out over the few flaws here. One of the main ones is the lack of explanations given to the initial invasion as there's nothing about why they invaded here, choose that town or the purpose of their take-over which leaves a lot of unanswered questions about the creatures. The only other problem are is the lack of investigations taking place throughout here, for the asteroid appearing is never seen being investigated or even known about, the disappearing animals raise more interest than the people and the lack of action here really does seem limiting toward the police. Still, this one was incredibly enjoyable regardless. |

I'm honestly fine with the fact that they didn't reveal too much about the alien creatures. Those things didn't seem like the type to have an in depth, sinister motive anyway. They just seemed like hungry things acting on instinct (but with a little more intelligence than say, a basic zombie). |

For me, it's really just more an example of that 'no-investigation' point I brought up. A meteorite crash-lands in America and no one comes to investigate? People are more concerned about missing farm-animals than their friends and neighbors? The creatures are discovered and no one tends to think they should study the things? Just part of the continuation of my problems with it. |

I love this film. The dialogue is wonderful, as are most of the characters. It's a disgusting, tongue-in-cheek film, that might be too close to a ripoff of Night of the Creeps for comfort, but I still quite enjoy it, and it's a film I distinctly remember seeing in theaters as a 13/14 year old. I loved the shit out of this movie when I was younger. The karaoke "Crying Game" scene still has me in tears. I. Know. All. There. Is. To. Know. About. The. Crying. Game. I've. Had. My. Share. Of the cryyyying gaaaaaame... lmao. |

This movie actually kickstarted my Nathan Fillion obsession. So for that, I am eternally greatful. I remember when I saw the first trailer for this movie and how it stated that every (good) horror movie sucked and I was ready to hate this movie forever. I belittled it to being a piss poor rip off of Night of the Creeps. And then it was finally on Cinemax and I thought: Why not? I ended up buying the damn movie within a week. I loved it! The humor was spot on, it had just enough gore to appease me. And it not only had Nathan Fillion, but Elizabeth Banks too! Score!! So in short, I loved this movie and I still love it!

*high fives Aaron and Nohea* I love this movie as well haha. I remember seeing all the tv spots when I was a kid and was so pumped when I went to see it in theatres. I finally managed to get it on DVD a few years ago. ![]() Gunn rarely lets me down, and Fillion, Banks and Rooker are all awesome. The humour was pretty much spot on for me, especially the scenes with the giant bloated woman and the grenade in the pool.
