First I want to thank The Allied States for a very successful Harry Potter festival this month! It was a lot of fun, we were finally able to incorporate our regular TAS Movie Nights into a regional festival, and got several members interested in the activities. I finally got the points system down to a way it can work where people were not just exploiting topics for points. The biggest obstacle remains to be figuring out what the winner can actually receive. I promise, not only I, but we all are trying to figure that out together for future festivals. (sorry if the colors give you epilepsy also merry christmas) Now onto some numbers: The Harry Potter festival had 13 total topics created, compared with the 14 topics created for the Star Wars festival. Although the Star Wars festival had more activities such as crafting a lightsaber and topics for video games as well as just the movies, there are also more Star Wars films compared to Harry Potter stories. We also decided to condense the spam game to only having a single one during the Harry Potter festival, compared to having two spam games during the Star Wars festival, as well as attempting to have a roleplay for the Star Wars festival, which became just an exploitative spam game of sorts, thus resulting in no attempted Harry Potter roleplay this time around. There were 8 total active participants (counted as those who racked up any number of points) in the Harry Potter festival, compared to the 16 total active participants in the Star Wars festival, which in the grand scheme of things is still a very decent number of participants. Yes it is a decrease, let's however take a look at some other statistics: The Harry Potter festival had a total of 306 comments and replies, compared to the 155 comments and replies of the Star Wars festival. Of those comments and replies, 51 were to book and movie threads in the Harry Potter festival, compared to 39 comments and replies in the movie threads of the Star Wars festival. Additionally, the quidditch spam game was no question the focal point for many during the Harry Potter festival. 201 total comments and replies in the quidditch spam game, compared to 31 comments and replies if you combine both of the spam games during the Star Wars festival (43 if you count the attempted roleplay lol.) More festivals are in the planning for the future. If you keep tabs on movies coming out soon, you probably have an idea what the next festival is going to be already. ♠️obi |
