Mister Speaker, if I could revise what I had said about supporting the clause if you will: I fully support the first part of the clause, but am also in agreement about religion playing a major part in history as has been brought to our attention just now. If the clause, as it stands, were to be implemented including a prohibition of teaching about any religion whatsoever, it would make history classes an impossibility. I am fully supportive of this clause if the portion containing a prohibition of religious teaching were to be removed.

With this in mind, schools should be allowed to teach about religion, but with education, not conversion nor favoritism of a religion, in mind. That said, I believe the interworkings of how religion plays into public schools is for another debate. I will be in full support of this clause once the latter portion involving public schools is removed. As it stands? Nay.

Richard Trovasky stood and replied "I as well agree that religion adds an important role in culture & history. It would be impossible to fully explain the crusades, neither less the Renaissance Era. I currently stand against this amendment."

The Chair would like to commend the gentleman from Alamo for taking the initiative to write and sponsor this bill. The Chair would also like to inform the gentleman and the rest of the House that the Treasury pays 100 Allied Dollars to Representatives who write and sponsor legislation (excluding Senators), redeemable in the Treasury payments thread.

Mister Speaker, once the 48 hour period for debate on this amendment has concluded, I would like to move that the House consider the following motion:

Amendment to the Separation of Church and State Amendment

The Separation of Church and State Amendment is hereby split into the following two resolutions:

Separation of Church and State Amendment

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or declaring an official state religion, and the teaching advocacy of any religious doctrine in any education program funded by the state is strictly prohibited.

Separation of Church and State Act

Section 1
1. The federal government shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or declaring an official state religion, and the advocacy of any religious doctrine in any education program funded by the state is strictly prohibited.

Permit me, for a moment, explain what my motion would entail. Mister Speaker, first I ask for a 24 hour vote on my motion to amend the bill and split it into two parts. If the motion succeeds, the House will then conduct two separate votes, one on amending the Allied States Constitution to add the first part of the legislation and would require a 3/5 majority of the House. The second vote is a government roleplay legislation and affects the public schools in the government roleplay. If the second vote succeeds, it would need Senate approval.

Mister Speaker, just to clarify, the motion to split and amend the bill is at vote, correct not the bill itself?
