Hello, business owners of Allied States. I took CDLand's words to heart to discuss the future of the economy. Here are some key issues to discuss:

1)RP Business vs. Real Business
Technically a lot of business out there offer fake, non-tangible goods or services to the public. The reason why I have done well, and some others (CDLand's newspaper) is they offer real things people can see, and "touch". Imagine as if, one in real life demanded money for some fake soldiers in battle. It's not honored by anyone else than that business. You might as well start a charity for yourself, if thats the case. Thus my proposition is to separate these businesses from forum money to RPing businesses. Nothing more. In the future, I am seeking ways so that these business will receive forum funding, but that is in due time.

Here is wiki def.: "A business, also known as an enterprise or a firm, is an organization involved in the trade of goods, services, or both to consumers.[1] Businesses are prevalent in capitalist economies, where most of them are privately owned and provide goods and services to customers in exchange for other goods, services, or money. Businesses may also be not-for-profit or state-owned. A business owned by multiple individuals may be referred to as a company."

2) Business Owners Role
It has never been discussed what business owners role in Allied States. What is the future, or goal for business owners?

3) Education Funding
It is as it sounds. Should the gov. regulate tuition fees of private institutions? Should the gov. pay for tuition? A weekly investment from the gov. to help schools lower the cost of tuition? Maybe even a mix?

4) Goal of the Economy
Where should the economy be in a month from now? What is your vision? And how are we going to get there?

This is ok if you disagree or have different thoughts on issues (liberal or con.) This is to gauge the temp. of where we stand and where we want to go.

Alright, I'll offer my personal thoughts for what it's worth on 2 & 3; I'll think about 1 & 4 a bit more and offer more comments later.

2) Business owners are a diverse lot; we've got bankers and journalists, we've got Republicans and Socialists. I suppose it would be fun to create a sort of "Chamber of Commerce" to lobby for pro business legislation though lol.

3) Well I offered my views in the Senate campaign on education funding; I think the government should pay a percentage but not the whole price. If the government wanted to pick up the whole tab then we could have a system where the University requests to set a price to some government official (say the Secretary of the Interior) who could reject or accept the price. The University could appeal to the Senate who would have the final say.

I think the universities could become important as we need people to fill the new Justice and State Departments under New Christland and taking a course in the University is a good way to gain experience. It would strengthen the government which makes it a good investment IMO.

I support option 2. We kind of have that as a lobbying group called Business United Org., but something more official will be good.
I like your idea on # 3, but am worried that congress will annex certain schools.

The problem is, there's just not very many services people in the allied states actually need!

How about the government create businesses?

What makes you think Congress will annex schools?

Alright, here goes:

1) I tend to agree with Keventle on this one. While no one should force businesses to sell only tangible goods, I believe that the government should only agree to subsidize or take contracts with businesses offering tangible goods. We should develop a separate system for roleplay businesses with a separate currency, and I believe Keventle is doing that which I commend him for.

4) Within the next month, I plan to implement a new money system which will allow monetary transfers without going through an admin. I also hope that September will be the last month of filing taxes as we can move to a land sales system of funding the Treasury.

By the way, here are some business ideas for tangible goods. Feel free to take any of them:
1. Newspaper/Media (Charge money for exclusive access to additional content)
2. Law Services
3. Schools (Doesn't have to be purely Allied States related; you could offer to tutor for RL for example)
4. Political Consultant/Election Business (create campaign commercials and logos, book your candidate on interviews, write Telegrams or PMs to people asking them to support your candidate/making sure they vote)
5. Anything that might get you a government contract. For example:
a. Event Planner (Plans regional activities and games; for example organizing something like Mafia or that Europe 1914 game I did a while back)
b. Offer to keep the map or law library updated
c. Offer to greet new nations of the region and steer them toward the forums
6. Church/other religious service that offers advice

Don't be afraid to compete; competition is good! Someone can still open another newspaper, bank, or law firm even though the business has been taken.
