Beginners Guide to Recruiting Like all great organizations and groups, in order to grow membership steps must be taken to build awareness of the organization. In NationStates this is no different for regions, who in order to survive must continue to attract new members. The easiest way to grow membership is through recruiting and some of the basics to this will be discussed here. Feeders/Sinkers Feeders are the regions on the NS site where new nations spawn all the time. All regions are allowed to recruit from these regions and there is no lack of competition here. Similarly the Sinkers are the regions in which old nations who haven’t logged onto NS for awhile are “re-founded” or re-spawned. These nations are fair game for recruiting as well. Below is the list of the feeders and sinkers: Feeders: The North Pacific The South Pacific The East Pacific The West Pacific The Pacific Sinkers: Balder Lazarus Osiris How Do You Recruit? Recruiting is done by sending a telegram to nations that have been founded or re-founded in the feeders/sinkers. People who recruit for The Allied States currently send this message or something very close to it: If you are stupid, CLICK HERE, and learn to write your own recruitment telegram! I’ve previously mentioned that recruiting is done in the feeders and sinkers and now I will show you how we spot potential recruits. If you click on any of the feeder/sinker region links above it will take you to its home page. The key section here is the Regional Happenings. In a feeder you may see something like “The Republic of France was founded” and if you are in a Sinker you would see “The Republic of France was refounded”. These are the nations that you should send recruiting messages to but do so quickly because once they move to another region you can no longer recruit them. If in the regional happenings you see “The Republic of France departed this region for Other Region” they are off limits. In order to send a telegram you have to click on the link to a nation and click Write Telegram. From there you would hit the 'little black arrow' sign next to the To: Header and select “This is a recruitment telegram”. Then paste in the message and send. New Version :: Recommended In recent days NationStates has created a activity feed, here you can see all happenings in the whole world (including Founding and Refounding). Activity Feed, I have already selected foundings, so the only thing you have to do is to copy the recruitment telegram (perhaps create a template, explained below), click on the link, then choose a nation that has recently been founded (within the last 10 minutes), right mouse click on the name, open new tab and do as stated above ^. Templates An easy way to speed up the recruiting process is to build a template of the recruiting Telegram that you will send to nations. The basic steps on how to do this are located in this link: http://forum.nationstates.net/viewtopic.ph...32374#p12932374 . But here is a list below: 1. Compose a telegram as normal. If it is a recruitment/campaign TG, be sure to check the appropriate box. You may wish to use the %NATION% token, which converts into the name of the recipient. 2.Wire your telegram to "tag:template". 3. You will be shown a special token that will look like this: %TEMPLATE-12345678%. Copy this. 4.Address a new telegram to whoever you want to send a copy to. (Yourself, perhaps, to test.) It doesn't matter whether you do this on the Telegrams page or a nation page. 5. Paste your %TEMPLATE-12345678% token as the entire message. Click Send. 6. Repeat Steps 4-5 to send more copies to more people. 7. Keep an eye on the telegram's Delivery Reports. Edited by The Rhein States, Mar 3 2015, 08:05 AM.
