Hi everyone! I'm not new to NationStates (been around for two years now) but I am new to the Allied States. I was looking for a smaller region with an active community, and when I found TAS I just couldn't resist the combination with a US Government simulation. So...good to meet you everyone! What should I know about the region? |

Welcome, it's great to have you here! Hm things to know: 1. Well one we have a political simulation so feel free to introduce or vote on bills about government RP matters in the House or Northeast State Assembly. You can also join up to two of the four Joint Congressional Committees. 2. The economy - You get 10 points per post. You can then exchange points to Allied Dollars at one of the currency exchange businesses in the business section of the forum. Allied Dollars can be used to claim spots on the world map (although you get 5 plots for free). If you want a spot on the Allied States map, you can get that through your state government (the Northeast). They can also be used in any of the businesses. 3. If at any time you want to change a state, you can (the thread is in the "Admin and States Office") 4. In addition to the political simulation, there's a national/states RP where you can buy military equipment at one of the stores (or make your own business by getting a product appraised). Then if you go to war against someone else (or if someone else goes to war against you) land is exchanged on the two maps. (If you want to know more about this point, I'll elaborate) |

I actually have a few more questions: 1.I'm intrigued by the Committee on Regional Events. What exactly does it do? 2. I assume State Governors are elected according to state constitutions? 3. Is there a way for citizens to work for the executive or get involved in the executive departments? |

1. Their job is to plan regional events (like holidays) and special "Civil War" roleplays where people can go to war with each other without actually risking land since all territory changes are reversed after the event is over. They also have jurisdiction over the national roleplay I mentioned. 2. Yes they are (typically the terms are one month) 3. Sure, in the Foreign Affairs Department, you could become an Ambassador to other regions, join the Allied States Army (though it's fledgling and new), or do manual/automatic recruitment. You can also submit news articles to the Office of Communications and get paid for them (they're compiled in Foreign Dispatches sent to foreign regions and Allied Regional Reports telegramed to nations in the region) |
