ok, i'll start the ball rolling for you between 80-200 and 70-200 ssm, the 70-200 is a much better lens, although heavier. the minimum focusing distance is also shorter, the ssm motor makes focusing super quiet though the 80-200 has "kick". sometimes i miss the raw energy it produces, must be the days when i want to play rough  70-200 has a side panel that allows you to swith af/mf, std manual focus or dmf, full focus or limited (start from 3m onwards) and four focus hold buttons. but as Hart and i feel, these buttons and panel sometimes get in the way when shooting in portrait mode and can be accidentally triggered by the left hand. personally, 70-200 is a more beautiful lens to behold, but as i age, i might switch back to the 80-200 (it also needs fresh air) for street shoots. |
