Thats due to the DOF. Try using f16 or even f22.

Increasing the f-stop, ie increase the DOF is the right way to go...but DOF at long focal length plus close focusing distance is very narrow.

You can calculate DOF here .... http://www.dofmaster.com/dofjs.html

at 200mm f/22 with Subject distance of 36 in, the dof is from 35.9 in to 36.1 in. a total of 0.17 in dof range, which is very small.

When shooting wide, eg F2.8, you can have only the certain parts in focus and the other parts out of focus. To get the whole subject from head to tail in focus you have to stop down.

But the more you stop down, the slower your shutter speed gets. Slow shutter speed = blurry images if the subject moves during the take OR hand shake. So cannot have too slow shutter speed, unless you are very sure the subject doesn't move. That's why tripod and shutter release are important also. If flash is used, it will improve shutter speed.

So have to compromise. Try stop down F8 or more. experiment a bit here and there la..

I think i got a bit theory here and there but lacks practical. So correct me if I am wrong!
