White fetish? Do sticker version ok. Spray paint is difficult have to dismantle the lens before you can do that and some more, after painting you get chip here and there from knocks.. |

CL, have you tried epoxy instead? there's a mallable type from 3M or Selleys (can't recall), where you roll two parts together (like plasticine) then shape it and once its set you can even sand it down. if you built a mould for the hotshoe mount i'm sure you'd be able to shape a replacement - that stuff is adhesive too, so no need to build and stick. i bought a pack once, meant to replace the MD mount on one of my bellows, haven't gotten around to doing it. but from the pack's info, this stuff can be used even for steel pots!

Problem is .. need to take apart the casing to spray paint, before putting everything back again.. I wouldn't want to risk a $300 lens this way myself. I did painted my badminton racquet with good result. But it was a lot of work. In the end, the paint does not stick well because I ended up with many paint chips falling off. So I can't think when it involve camera lens. |

don't smash so hard lor... quite logical yah? the racquet frame has flex so the paint would def crack. i guess the lenses would fare better but you're right, its not worth risking paint vapours or droplets seeping onto the lens elements confirm finito...MING -- if you're serious, you can try those guys that customise wraps for handphones, i think those would last longer and are less invasive than paint since its normally heat-shrink wraps. |
