Never see before how these people do.. Do they use hair dryer or heat to shrink the wrap? Should we be concern about heating the lens this way?

We seem to OT big time here ... and I haven't get started with the shoe bracket replacement, although I already bought the epoxy gum.

sorry clkoh , i was just about to say this OT Big Time here , its a hot shoe became lens laminating topic ...

ok then , my last here (maybe) , i don't think i will take the risk . but i sure going to ask what can they do to laminate the 18-70mm kit lens , safely . B)

No.. don't get me wrong. I don't mind about the OT.

It just that maybe 2 months down the line, I don't think it will be easy to find this lens laminating discussion since it was discussed in this thread about shoe bracketing.

My 36AM flash shoe plastic bracket broke when I accidentally knocked on it. Luckily it was mounted on Flash stand instead of my Cam.

Anyway went to Service Centre.. and it will actually cost $150 to replace that plastic section. Crazy! Was told the whole bottom connector part has to be replaced.

The cost is almost half of a brand new flash (if you buy with promotion @299)

Me being me, am buying <$2 super glue .. fix back. Otherwise I will mod the base for permanent Macro use.

Pity .. I wanted to sell and upgrade. Now I can't sell at all.

Anyone with broken/faulty sony 36AM or Minolta 36 but with good base, please let me know, I will buy your broken set to fix this, on my own.

bro clkoh...

Sorry to come in so late... 3rd day only in Alphadslr...

I have an old minolta flash... can't remember what liao... but can work on alpha, so should be ok...

The connectors to batteries no good liao... if you like I can pass to you to see if you can salvage the parts from there for your 36AM...

I will try to post a pic of the mounting for you asap.

the more i look at the pic i'm more convinced that the bracket is a separate assembly from the base.
since this thing is already out of warranty, no harm opening up the base to confirm right? if so then you can salvage the part from those old dead flashes.

Yes.. I thought so too. Tha's why I balked at the $150 tag. The only thing is when dismantling, may accidentally broke other wires.. or stuff fell out of place. But it doesnt bother me, because I think things can be put back.

Thanks psccy for the offer. I open up and see how first.

Haha .. I guess the 6 course meal was too good that you forgot hehe...

I taken the base apart and epoxy-ed the base. Take a while for the epoxy to dry, after a few hours still feels sticky.

I will post a macro picture of the base interior later.

cooool... btw epoxy should be left to cure for at least 12 hours, regardless of what the packaging says. partly i think its our tropical humidity.
