ARRRRGHH! seeing this thread i just remembered that we forgot to check out the push cart with the lamination service at PS! :banghead:

shoot half day, eat big lunch, then blur like sotong... hopefully shadow checked it out.

Hehehe. I checked liao. Nope, they do not wrap lenses. Well at least they are honest to tell me they have not done any before and they rather not take the risk.

OK Here are the pictures for those who want to know how the inside looks like. Do not attempt to open unless you know what you doing.

In any case take photo before dismantling parts, so that if things come apart, you know how to put them back together properly.

The only thing that have to be extra careful is the spring thing that has a lever to connect to the button on the side of flash.

The 4 screws holding the base

The base with the wiring disconnected

The shoe dismantled. Note there are 3 different types of screws. Although look same the thread are a bit different.

The epoxied shoe base. The circuit board can be taken out as well but I do not see the need to take that out for epoxy purpose

All parts reassembled. Need to ensure the wires do not get 'clamped'.

What's left now is for the epoxy to dry. :D

Thanks bro.

Actually to epoxy, no need to take the base apart. But I extra kiasu, just in case I accidentally have epoxy all over the other part of flash.. Can be messy and sitcky.

Another thing I juswt realise is that there is circuit chip at the shoe base, it may be different from flash to flash. So maybe the circuit from another model of flash cannot be use on another model, unless we are very sure the chip is the same. This I cannot confirm.

Why else we have 3500xi, 5400HS, 5600HS, etc. Each has different features.

great stuff bro! and nice pics to go along with it too!

i would guess there is no diff between the series, the wires look like one for each pin, and the brown is probably for grounding.

Hart blew up a 3500xi recently, if he hasn't doen anything or thrown it away perhaps he can take it apart and we'll learn something here. :)
