Ah, I saw clkoh's cable. It's the exact same cable. Maybe I can experiment with speaker cable one day - it should be even more conductive...

The performance also depends on how much current the battery releases its power to the flash gun - i.e. A battery capable of a deeper cycle works better.

330v That is the data I found online:

http://www.mhohner.de/minolta/flashcomp_acc.php

We might have to get a hold on the schematics of a Minolta EP-2/Sony FA-EB1AM to really find out. :)

It's dangerous not to have the form fitting plug as well unless we build these to order.

bro, you can ask the guys who did the mod, plus i'd tell you the recycle is 5s tops for a full power discharge with no cut-off. i had to take a few like that at my grandma's birthday last sat (lousy restaurant lighting and ceiling).

strange that your sla's recycle rate is 8s. i suspect the cable is too thick, and you are losing current along it. btw the yuasa takes about 3 hrs to recharge although i tend to leave it overnight.

just curious about the ep2 - how does 6x1.5v batt (9v) convert into 330v? is there a cap that sucks the lifeforce out of these batts?

wah...i do own one...hmm...with 10batts...4 in flash 6 in the ep2... can last me ard 400 shots...testing it during my frens wedding last sept..on 2500mh recharghables
Think a new system...

no, i meant if you threw the flash with no bounce, i.e. cut-off. that is basically a full drain on the capacitors, and those are the shots that leave you out cold for 5s with an sla without the ep2, or 8s and counting with AAs as they drain.
