the clip is the only thing that's proprietary. and unless there're caps and circuits to juice the thing up to 330v as you've said, then its an overrated piece of plastic. i'd be tempted to mod a connector and hook it up to the sla, and see if i can achieve more than 5s recycle at full power (e.g. 2s).

That's right... if we can find someone to mould and stamp out that plug in good quality plastic - it should work... otherwise, I'm not feeling that safe about 330 volts in a home made setup.

Good idea, clay mound on the EP2 Plug, and produce a fitting plug, then we have to disassemble bro dewakarma's EP2 - and find out what's inside - and try to locate identical parts for this item - and determine the polarity. :)

Info gotten from here: http://www.mhohner.de/minolta/flashcomp_acc.php

verbiage taken from the site:

"Note that this battery pack and the EP-1 below are not simple battery holders. They contain a high-voltage generator, and the battery packs feed 330V to the flash unit! So you can't easily make your own battery pack out of a battery holder (besides the fact that you can't buy the required plug anywhere). "

** shudder **

can't imagine if you have a break in the cable and accidentally touch it. might look like this:

hmm.. how come bro dewakarma's suddenly so quiet?

Eek, so ugly... :knock:

Anyway - that's why I'm thinking twice after reading all that info - molding and fabricating, plus the electrical components (because we are not doing this in bulk) could be more expensive than buying EP2 - so it kinda defeats the purpose of creating a mod in the first place.

And as you know we are dealing with high voltages here, so yeah. It's hazardous.

Haha, I'd probably spread the knowledge instead. :)

These are home-made apparatuses and they do not have warranty. It won't be nice if I made them and sell it... ;)
