Hi everyone . Here i have a few questions on a lens that i am thinking to own . Would like to know more about it before making any decisions , hope to get some feedbacks & advises from everyone here . Thank you .

500mm f8 Mirror lens .

from the other thread i posted on a 300mm . i have collected little informations on this 500mm mirror lens . all i know is this lens uses mirror to capture the picture and it produced round donut looking bokeh .

mr tankm provided me this link : http://www.bobatkins.com/photography/tutorials/mirror.html to further understand what is a mirror lens . but frankly , i only understand 60% of it ...

its the longest lightest lens at 500mm and available for many other mounts , not only for A mount . what will this lens be used mostly for ? only under bright lighting then it can be useful , not under low light situations ...

the best places to bring it to shoot will be to the zoo and other places of interest where the objects are far away to reach . what will it be more useful for ?

the sharpness from this lens is not so good ... ? have to PP to sharpen it , is it true ?

500 mirror, a lens I would also like to have. But I know I will seldom use it, end up being a white elephant in the dri cab.

I have tried the original Minolta 500. True, its light. But due to its focal length, a little handshake is all it takes to blur a shot. IMO, I find that the pic taken is kinda soft. Its prob me only, I guess.

I would rather get a 1.4x or 2x TC with a 300mm lens should I want to get that same focal length of 500mm. But there again, its me, I may be wrong here.

bro trigger did said that using a TC will only slow down the focusing speed when attached to a 300mm , for mine is a f4 . i did thought of this too ,

300mm f4 + 2x TC = 600mm f8 , G lens some more :P

500mm f8 is a mirror lens , can match with the combo above meh ? i don't know you right or wrong , but i would like to read more .
