I just redo my LCD monitor calibration with Spyder2Pro which measures black and white luminance and provide a recommendation on CONTRAST (adjust for white) and BRIGHTNESS (adjust for black) settings of the monitor. After calibration, my settings are now changed by alot. CONTRAST: 35 (old) to 80 BRIGHTNESS: 19 (old) to 15 The measurement after calibration for black luminance is 0.33 candelas and white luminance is 62.3. Both are very close to the recommended value. Now overall the screen "brightness" has increase a lot. Looking at some of the brothers photo here, now they look over exposed where it was ok previously. High ISO noise where previously considered acceptable are now no longer looking good. Question is, is this right ? Any comments ? What is your LCD CONTRAST and BRIGHTNESS settings out of the maximum ? For those who like to share their LCD CONTRAST & BRIGHTNESS information. 1. tankm Contrast:80 out of max 100 Brightness: 15 out of max 100 2. 3. |

rongren... just for confirmation is your value correct or it's the other way round ? For the Gretag Macbeth that you used for calibration did it measures the black and white luminance and you in turn set your CONTRAST & BRIGHTNESS based on it ? Do you happen to know the luminance value set ? Interesting for the others brightness value. Some manual way of setting the contrast and brightness, this is what I used previously for adjusting visually. http://www.jeffbernerphotography.com/monitorcalibration.htm |

Actually if you set your brightness high, it's very tiring to the eyes after viewing the LCD for a while.. Initially I set my brightness high as well.. and the color seems to be better.. but now, I set it low. |
