Wonder what is this "Pentamirror Tilt mechanism" though?
Quote:

Sony’s innovative Pentamirror Tilt mechanism directs light to a dedicated live view image sensor, enabling fast and responsive TTL phase-detection auto-focusing, even during live view.

Is it something similar to Olympus 4/3 implementation? With a separate sensor to provide image for the LCD?
it's explained here:

When taking photo, the mirror will flap, it's still will cause black out whrn mirror flapping? As least it can autofocus without flapping mirror like other brand.

This year is a fast moving year for Sony, I feel, when A300 and A350 are out - boom, here comes A500 might be coming out, and probably, it'd attack the Consumer bunch as well - that's where, you know, the bulk of the money is in... It's better to wait a bit and see what Sony has to offer... :)

I feel that Sony's solution of implementing the live view is a simple yet great one. Basically, by just adding a LV sensor and tilting the pentamirror slightly to redirect the image is basically just like hooking up ZigView - and the rest of the camera stays the same. So technically, the other systems like the af system would be untouched because it doesn't involve the main mirror and the main sensor, thus there won't be compromises in system performance like what we see on some other implementations. Also, it's a good move by sony to include a swivel display because some folks to do their shooting work from steep viewing angles. The implementation of LV alone without a swivel display is, i feel, kinda like a half-hearted one.

die liao.. all current A700 users. <_<
(hmm.. I'm not surprise.. )

"I compared the still-life images of the A350, the A700, and the 40D.
At ISO 100, the A700 and the 40D seem roughly equivalent to me in terms of detail. Don't know what Sony did with the A350 sensor but IMO it's a *step ahead* of both the A700 and the 40D in terms of detail (and DR - am I seeing right?). Pretty amazing!

At ISO 800, though, the A350 has lost its resolution advantage. All three cameras have pretty much the same detail, with the A350 having the most noise."

Actually, I'm quite tempted by the A350 - a CCD sensor with 14mpx is definitely good for landscape/still life/studio. An inexpensive, high resolution studio solution that should work great when combined with the CZ1680...

If you are doing more of what I've mentioned above, the A350 is a good choice, if you have to cover events as well, it's safer to take the A700... :D :thumbsup1:
